Hi there I am afraid I nothing about these type of bushes and there illness`s , but a client of ours has asked me if I can help identify the problem .....so here I am as you can see it is only in one area of the bush and the rest of it is healthy, there is also a smaller patch on the other bush further along the wall. any help would be appreciated. thanks Steve Portugal
  6. Hi David , I can Honestly say it was the craziest storm I have experienced even stronger than ones in the UK, and it was certainly not normal for here in Portugal The wind Gust Speed was 167 - 180 Km, and the constant was 120km. the other problem was we had our normal `monsoon` rains for 3 weeks before , so the ground was wet , a lot of trees just plate lifted . most of the country got it except the Algarve, but where I am in Central Portugal was the worst hit. and along the coast. The Botanical gardens in Coimbra and the National Walled Forest at Buccaco ,and the one at Sintra were devastated. really old trees just snapped ,such as the worlds oldest Cedar. We had to do an emergency job in the middle of the storm on the Saturday afternoon, a 200+ year old Medronha (Strawberry Tree) up rooted onto a house. had to cut our way up the mountain to get to the house, nearly got wiped out several times by falling and sliding 210cm wide Eucalyptus and Acacia (Mimosa ) trees that were barrelling down the mountain. not something I want to experience again Steve
  7. Here in Portugal and also Spain , there is a roaring trade in Azeite oil. basiclly Olive oil ,normally it is the lowgrade stuff that cant be sold for food use etc. The problem I have found is it has sediment in it. so I would rather pay the extra 5 euros more and get proper oil. The best oil I have ever used was a container of chain oil that I got in Lincoln ,UK before I moved to Portugal about 6 years ago, it was `Extra Tacky Chain Oil` made by Withams of Lincoln.....amazing oil. Steve Portugal
  8. hi all, Check out the damage from last weekends mini Hurricane that we had here in Portugal. We even lost the worlds oldest Cedar. :-( Temporal Sintra 19 de Janeiro de 2013 | Facebook Mau tempo derruba cedro mais antigo do mundo - TVI Queda de árvores e ramos | Facebook Steve Portugal
  9. yeah , the repeating everything after the US ad breaks seems standard for docu`s now , as I said there was only about maximum of 1o mins of actual logging in the latest episode of Ax Men. steve
  10. My Echo CS-8000 has the same problem, I used a standard 2 way switch from Maplin , seems to work as well as an original. P would be the one I would use . steve
  11. Hi all, just to update , the throttle `jerky`overun issue has turned out to be the section of prop after the transfer box, also the clutch is pretty well knackered. the lack of power was a mixture of a few things including a blown head gasket, pump needed a clean, part of a mouse nest in the safari snorkel to the air filter box and the turbo air gate was open for to long. going in to the garage for a complete overhaul and part renovation next week, so it will all get done then . ( once I have ordered all the parts from the UK ,as it is way cheaper than over here. for example a Clutch over here is 180€ and in the Uk I can get one for 80€. Many thanks for all the help and info guys, will update once all the work is done. Steve Portugal
  12. The new series of Axe Men seems to be getting even more `drama` based ,The last episode had about 10 minutes of actual forestry !! I understand that at the moment there is a lot of stuff going on with the guy from S&S logging , but the rest of the drama is so not needed on a show like this. real shame that Swamp Loggers was axed , at least those guys worked hard and the show was almost 100% action and not a `soap opera` in the forest, Steve Portugal
  13. Thats a beauty there mate , very nice. Steve Portugal

  17. Yes thats what i thought, I have seen some large ones on the beach in N California , also if you ever watch the movie `The Goonies` you can see a few shots of a beach with some large trunks and I think it was filmed in N California or poss S Oregon. beautiful trunk though!! steve portugal
  18. Hi there, and thanks , I had a shudder develop this summer and had the donut changed, so I will check out the rest of the shafts, do you think it could be the diffs, axles and transfer box themselves ?? or just the shafts ? just hope its not going to be too expensive. thanks Steve Portugal
  19. Hi there all, Ok normally I have been quite able to fix all my mechanical problems , but this has me stumped !!! I have a 1999 Landrover Discovery 300TDI, Manual gearbox. My problem is that when you take your foot off of the accelerator say as you are coming up to a junction or roundabout .....there is a large gap , the same when you re-apply the accelerator ,a large gap, so it quite often `kangaroos` any ideas what I mean and what could be causing it , other than the above problem it seems to be running OK, apart from the gear changes are a bit `jerky` even if you try your very best to change smoothly. any help is appreciated. thanks Steve Portugal
  20. is that off Oregon coast in the USA ?? Steve Portugal

    Echo CS-3600

Hi thanks for the info , mine is like this : I do love Echos , very great solid saws. and very easy to work on and keep clean, as I have said before my 8000 is a beast , running a 24" bar on it now and it seems comfortable with that size, I know it can take a larger bar , but it just seems very happy with a 24". Steve Portugal

  25. Welcome Big Beech, I have just set up a similar bar and mount and mill that you want , and i love it !! ..I am sure you will too. and I have found the guys on here a wealth of info. I am mainly doing Oak , Chestnut and Walnut out here , everyone wants there Pine trees turned into planks , but the wood just splits after only a few months due to the speed of growth out here, even the oak is bad at times. I tend to only go for the giants now ;-) cheers steve Portugal
