  1. Used someone else's 661 on a 36" bar and it was fine.. Who knows ?!?!
  2. We have a 661 and it is poo on a 30 inch bar, it's gutless in big wood.. Might just be a bad egg?
  3. Looks like climbing set ups have come full circle, it reminds me of climbing double Rope on both ends of your rope with two high anchor points ..
  4. Just use the other end of your rope without the splice.. All good :-)
  5. Rock climbing, swimming and a little yoga, stretching is key and I never do Enough like everyone says, I reckon that tree work keeps you fit but to stay healthy you need to supplement tree work with other exercise.. Your body becomes conditioned to work.
  6. Beeline blue seems to be the choice for all the wrench monkeys here :-) I think it's 10mm and have only heard good things about it
  7. Bar wasn't long enough, so instead of doing the backcut from both sides i just reduced one side of the hinge. The tree was leaning where it needed to go so losing a little bit of hinge wasn't a worry
  8. First one for a while, bar was to small but had the lean.. Being a bit lazy on a Saturday morning 😬
  9. Only downside I've found with water proof containers is that unless your ropes are bone dry everything stays damp including pulleys and biners etc which is a pain in the long run
  10. Firstly I hope your pantin is black too.. Also regards to hitch length . I have a few friends who run there hitch close but not touching the wrench and when limb walking out they pull down on the wrench and the hitch in the same hand when heading out on a limb. Helps relieve excess friction
  11. Blue tongue is good all around , buy some
  12. I didn't know you could Get new pins I thought it was just new bodies, but I could be wrong, the SJ is useless at this stage, brand new cams were slipping and a bit prior to this cams wouldn't last that long either. I couldn't get the pin out of this one, maybe to worn. I think the pin wearing isn't the problem it's just the indicator, the body itself wears out the most and needs replacing. The more wear on the body the quicker you'll go through clutches it's worth weighing up the odds and how comfortable you feel on a worn out device :-)
  13. By the book yes your supposed to. This is what my spiderjack looked like before changing the body..
  14. I'm the same as the first pic but without the ring, just clip onto my harness with the Biner on the saw,
  15. BT is faultless with the Zigzag and spiderjack.. Once it gets fluffy it's a dream to work with
  16. They look awesome I'll be getting my mine in NZ as soon as it's available.. Giving it a good thrashing and doing a review ..
  17. Looks good, been on my SJ for ages now and love it. This looks like good progression. Maybe looks slightly big and heavy? But i doubt it will be noticed.. Pulley is a good addition. As per the lock in pin.. I alway have added a marlin spike above my SJ when I don't want it to self tend when climbing up.. I'll be buying one from treetools and then thrashing it :-) It's interesting art are still thinking double rope.. There is still innovation to be made by the looks of it and they are doing it
  18. 2nd that.. Pictures and notes would be awesome..
  19. Gecko for me, Velcro all round and short gaffs. They go perfect with meindl airstreams too.. Never an uncomfortable day unless you get sawdust down your trousers and it goes between your shin/trousers and spikes ... 😐
  20. As said before rock strength will help tree strength. Also heel and toe hooks will help your work positioning ( all good rock climbing footwork will help ) . Just remember to always have tension on the climbing line :-) your not sport climbing
  21. Current logs are, elm oAk redwood ash Mac
  22. Hallo Just got my Alaskan and have milled up a few slabs.. And I am wondering how you guys season your slabs for indoor or outdoor use, So got a few questions: Do you use moisture reading to gauge when ready to work with ? I've heard slabs will be ready to work with in 6-12 months ? Pva glue the ends so slabs don't crack? Oil it so it doesn't crack ? I understand they need to be stored in a dry cool area with a little wind and no sunlight too and the slabs need spacers .. I'll probably think of more questions after I post this.. Thanks Arran
  23. Ally Geckos Velcro top and bottom .. Never had an uncomfortable day.. Short gaffs too.. can't stand long gaffs
  24. NZ is cool, some beautiful country once you get out of the city
