  1. I have a Bandit Sidewinder too, I have also used pretty much all the other ped grinders other have mentioned. Guess what there is no comparison. My opinion. There are 5 types of grinders. In my opinion. The small Rayco and carlton 900, for me too small, and most of the other tree guy I know The larger ped grinders 27hp plus, better but heavy and hard to use. The sidewinder, awesome, slim, powerful robust. For the money just great. The small hydraulic grinders. Ok, need bigger engines but easy to use. The big hydraulic grinders. The best but expensive and they can't get everywhere a ped can I think my perfect set up would be a sidewinder and a hurricane, proper big grinder. Ian do you have a lot of stump work, wouldn't hire be a good way to start then get a better one when funds available increase??????
  2. It sure does and 99 times outta of 100 it doesn't do it again for the rest of today. What you thinking?
  3. So did you disconnect the whole switch or did you remove the wire? And I right in thinking that you follow the wire from near the oil dipstick? Thanks for your help mate appreciate your responses.
  4. That's a weird one? If the oil pressure switch is not the culprit then next will be the alternator and the temperature switch (can't see it being this as I only seem to be within the very first minute of chipping after a warm up period). Stranger things have happen though!
  5. Thanks White Noise, can you remember how much the oil pressure switch was? Well, was grinding all day so no time to unwire the oil pressure switch, grinding tomorrow to but worse come to worse I will have a project over Christmas. If anyone else has anything to add or other things to check I am all ears!
  6. Had a look in to that, wd40 and a watchful eye and all seems well. Thinking maybe the oil pressure sensor. Might disconnect it in tut morning and see what occurs.
  7. One to check in the morning, thanks mate.
  8. My timberwolf 150 has recently been playing silly buggers. Start up fine Always leave it running for 10 mins Once on full revs start the rollers Chip couple of branches, then the whole chipper cuts out! No fading out no warning. Start her back up and it's fine, normally for the rest of the day. Has a couple of times cut out later in the day. Have checked oil and water. Both topped up. Radiator is cleaned out regularly with an airline. In line fuel filter and main filter are clear. Any ideas/diagnosis would be gratefully received. Cheers
  9. Cheers for this one guys just ordered the x27 and sharpener. Wanna see for myself if the fiskars sharpener is a bad as some say. Some people seem to rate it though
  10. I really don't need another saw love my 550. But Christ I really really want one. Baited breathe ref price list!
  11. Cheers Doobin, looked though the thread missed fist time round. Gonna have a gander at the mitox. Was hoping a few other people could of said some good or bad things about the thor machine.
  12. Wondered then same. She's hot
  13. Always discounted the smaller ones for some reason. Maybe I shouldn't have that one sounds impressive.
  14. Have seen the mitox, do you have experience with one? It was the handy that took me as riko sell them. Must be half decent was my take on it. I flog the groundys so hard they can barely walk let alone swing an axe. Lol Have the mrs at home all day so we do go though a fair bit of wood. I know a lot of guys who say its as quick to do it with an axe and yeah it is on the bigger stuff but I have taken a lot of elms down this year and that sh!t is like concrete. looked at Thor when I got the Balfor. From memory both brands are at the top of the field. Like the pedal knife positioner thingy. Trying to make life easier even bought an arbortrolly. GASP.
  15. Done firewood a few years ago, but since the arb side of the business got increasingly busy I didn't have time to do it. Sold the road tow Balfor 16 ton splitter. Now however I have a wood burner, and need a small scale splitter. A vertical jobbie looks ideal for my needs. Like the look of the thor aplino 6 ton electric. But is this over kill? Heard good things about the Handy vertical electric splitter it's half the price. But will I regret buying it? And wish that I had spent the extra money. Any help and advice gratefully received?
  16. Seen them on the f r jones website, wondering if anyone had one and whether they rated them.... Waterproof. Comfort. Hard wearing etc.
  17. If your booked til December already why are you worrying? I reckon you should be cuffed as f?!k! Previous tree tends out my way have proved winter to be the busiest times, yeah January is fairly slow because of people spending too much cash on Xmas. I do the same as the other guy cheaper day rate in Jan. keep it up reckon your doing well
  18. Nice one mate:thumbup1: Proper arb truck!
  19. Are you guys talking about finger teeth or green teeth?
  20. I get what you saying and yes I suppose that is exactly what I was trying to get over.
  21. :lol:So you WERE bullied at school:lol: Whatever makes you feel better Shame, no typo. Great come back, so page 20. Just out of interest how tall are you?
  22. I suspect if this thread has been a bunch of guys sat round a bonfire it would have been a lot more amicable (either that or you would have kicked the cr@p out of all of us). Ah, Shane you really seem to have the knack off annoying me. You drivel you write just seems to pick at every little thing just for the sake of causing a stir. By the way the only way I would ever be near a bonfire with you is if you were the Guy Fawkes. Oh, and on a kinder note please could you amend your "motto" thing at the bottom of every post as I think I should read as follows. __________________ And then one day you find, ten years have got behind you, no-one told you when to brisk walk (x run x), you missed the starting gun.
  23. Lucky you for having such a tight crew, the two guys my qualified groundys are ace. I have no huge hurry to get a "labourer", but they come from the college looking for a foot in the door and they are just not that interested in getting dirty and sweaty for a whole day. There are some younger guys like will who sound great but at 24yrs old I wouldn't call him a boys. Give a monkey a typewriter and.... Well you know the rest. One day the right guy will come walking in the yard.
  24. Plus 1 He is probably tired from sorting out work for both of you quoting, going though paperwork. Maintaining all of his equipment the list goes on. Think yourself lucky he is not asking you to run back from the chipper as well!
  25. Bet them buggers rattle something deafening
