  1. Wood for own use using chainsaw and maul. This was in the winter. I would get ready work go and start my van first then load up. 10 mins was enough to get the cab warm and defrosted. 10 mins to load up my gear. No Reving of the engine. Who one here goes to the van at minus what ever turns the key and goes to work? The odd one or two but most people must let their vans warm up first surely? Some people just don't like seeing other people getting on with life. Cupid is one of these people.
  2. I am just a honest guy trying to make a honest living. I get a very tidy house my grass is well manicured, no weeds in the beds. I sweep or blow the drive whenever there is any speck of saw dust or chip. Some of the other points he raised were, Wanting a copy of my risk assessment for cutting wood and splitting. As I am using a petrol chainsaw and splitting maul he quote "sees this as an industrial sized timber operation on a residential area. I cut wood for about 2 hour a month, when I get an early day. Never after 5pm! I was working down London about 2 years ago and in his letter he complained of me leaving my house at 4.30am and thought the need to leave my van running for 10minutes was selfish. Wtf Before all this happened I knew he had upset everyone else on the estate, but he had never bothered me before. I use to take his bin out in the morning, helped when he couldn't get his padlock off. Gave him wood. In hindsight I was a mug for helping.
  3. Buy a garden chiminea/fire pit:biggrin:
  4. You my friend are a legend. Love that
  5. If I have to get a yard to store my chipper and saws, my over heads and insurance costs are gonna go up, handy when your in your second year of business:angry:
  6. My neighbour, Cupid Stunt as I like to call him, has just posted a letter though my door stating that he wants me to relocate my business:confused1: At present I have my van in my space of the shared driveway. I have a double garage which is used to store my chipper, saws, trimmers and blah blah blah. I do cut wood up and split with an axe for firewood only for my own consumption though. I do maintainance on Saturday after 10am consisting of a little compressor to blow the saws out. The odd saw may be started for a couple of minutes. But nothing major. Wood chip goes to a guy down the road. I get along with all the other neighbours but thus guy upsets everyone, I guess it my turn:biggrin: I suppose what I am asking is he right am I running a business from home? In my eyes I only store my work equipment at home. Cheers Horatio
  7. Well on this bomb shell I have ordered......................... STIHL 880:BoomSmilie_anim: the big gun! Go big or go home, I gone biggest. There is no replacement for displacement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Thoughts exactly. Don't like the idea of a skip chain. If I gonna have a 36" bar I want it on saw that can handle it. Skip chains are sslooooow, I know the night are pulling out, but will I do in winter. That my excuses for getting a swanky new chainsaw and I am gonna stick with it. That what I will tell the Mrs too:thumbup:
  9. I looked at plenty of websites, Jonesie for one the height bar option is 28" I am not saying they are not powerful enough. Where can I buy one with a 36" Alex?
  10. So, looked and then got a job where a big saw is needed. Have a husqvarna 576xp with a 24" blade and to be fair it always been enough. 48" by the time you go round both sides:thumbup: Any way this time it's not gonna cut the mustard. There are half dozen dead horses chestnut trees to come down. All my ground saws are Husqvarna so I enquired about the395xp but the max bar length is only 28" wtf. The stihl equivalent is the 660 and can come with 36" bar Didn't really want the 3120 seems to be over kill for what I want. Don't get why the 395 can only be brought with a maximum 28" bar? Never used a stihl ground saw except the 260. How does the 660 fair to the big huskies.
  11. Just tried it on 920 30fps and result it working thanks:thumbup: So I shall scrap the update and use it as normal saving cocking about getting a refund still wish I had a drift though:thumbup1:
  12. That's good to hear. Even though I had the gopro for less than a day I found it so woeful to use. I have never had a helmet cam and yet I missed not having a screen. I mean what else can you take pics and vids and not preview what you have just taken? I was a mug to myself and not sticking with my guns and going for the drift. I have obviously got one of the many sub standard gopros so can not say they are all rubbish as if it had of updated and the video playback not been skittish then I would of been happy. As it stands the one i am sending back it useless and I shall NEVER be buying from company OhNo again.
  13. Well it's my birthday today and after the initial jubilant repentance of my new GoPro Hero 3. I am now on a big time low. After a few hours trying to update my BRAND NEW GoPro to no avail. I came to terms that maybe I should just use it as it was intended with no new update. Well, wish I hadn't the footage is skippy to say the least. The sound and picture are so far out of sync I thought that someone had spiked my Cheerios. Joking aside I had done my research and thought the drift was the helmet cam for me, but due to the large following of GoPro users on Arbtalk I went for the Hero 3. Reckon I must of gotten a bad one, after going on a couple of forums I have since discovered I am most deffantly not the only one. I have now in a height of anger packed the camera back up and will now be wanting a refund. Hopefully the Drift will be better, can't see how it could possibly be worse than the OhNo!
  14. Yeah a bit of uploading to you tube. Use one or two on my website. And to show friends and family on the big tv at home.
  15. I not too worried about the camera price. Looking at either gopro3 or drift ghost hd. It the updating the lap top as we never use it. Both of us just use the iPad. Ideally I wanna take some cool videos and edit them quickly and easily. With spend too much on the lap top.
  16. So, I have a lap top with plenty of memory. If I get the go pro will I be able to edit video easily and without shelling out on anything else expensive?
  17. It my birthday next week and my mrs wants to get me something nice. Always wanted a helmet cam so why not i thought. But seeing as I know less than nothing about them I not sure:confused1: What I need to know is. How easy are they to use and edit? I have a dell laptop just a basicish one although I have 1terror bite of memory hard disk thing. Would this do the job? Don't wanna have to buy a all singing all dancing apple 2k lap top. Any help is gratefully received.
  18. Called the bloke who I bought it off, he said he used 15w40 so that's what I am gonna use to top it up. Service is due soon How many of you guys service their chipper themselves?
  19. Brought it second hand no manual.
  20. Chipper maintainance this afternoon on the timba 150. And noticed the engine oil was getting low, rather side on the edge of caution and top her up. Thing is I have searched the net and arbtalk and can't seem what sort it takes. Maybe I haven't looked in the right place. Any who would the wealth of knowledge that congregate on arbtalk help me out of my predicament. Thanks in advance
  21. Gonna see him next Tuesday if you get what I am saying
