  1. As the title suggest I am wondering if any of you fine lot have any experience with towing a chipper with a jimny I own a 150 timberwolf would the jimny cope on rough grass, some mud etc whist towing a 750 machine? Yes, no, struggle etc. be good to hear from any one a jimny to see what they thought of them overall too Cheers
  2. I hadn't thought about a dumper. Love the look of the tractor and home made skidder. Didn't think you could get a cheap tractor 1k. Seems too good to be true. Thought the smaller the tractor the smaller the price tag! Obviously I was wrong. Is eBay the best place to look for sub 2k tractors. Compact or not. Googled second hand tractors and get everything but what I am looking for. Confused dot com Thank god for arbtalk and its helpful members!
  3. Thanks for the replies lads. Appreciate your replies. The woodlands that I am working in are generally quiet small 16'' diameter max. I don't know too much about compact tractors. A few questions I would ask you both would be. 4 or 2wd Could I get one for about 2k Where is a good place to look I am in Suffolk Thanks a lot really helpful thus far!
  4. Hi all, need some advice. I am an arborist mainly, but recently have been getting a few wood thinning/coppicing work come though. After the trees are felled they need to be piled up ready for the big boys to cart them away But what should I use to pile up the cord? Drag them about with a compact tractor. Kubota iseki yamar Or use a hand log arch, the logrite jr arch looks great, if not a little pricey at £650inc vat Any advice help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
  5. 2 DMM thimbles with tabs and 8mm cord to whatever length. Tied in a loop with fisherman's.
  6. When I first got my 201 back in 2011 I liked it. Fuel economy was better and as long as you kept the revs up it ran well. Now however, I hate it. It's spent half its life being fixed. I have always been a husqvarna man but as ways had stihl top handles, blower, trimmers and strimmer. I have no doubt I will never replace stihl for stihl. It will be for husqvarna or echo. I have no faith in stihl any more :thumbdown:hedge trimmers break down a lot compared to my echo ones! I wish I could afford to buy a husqvarna topper and sling the 201 in the bin. Well, when the husqvarna comes on sale:confused1:
  7. Mine has to be husky 550xp. Light powerful and a joy to use. Husky 576xp is a very close 2nd though!
  8. My favourite saw is by far the new husky 550xp. BEAST:thumbup1:
  9. Can anybody tell me if the 2012 stretch air trousers come with braces, the only braces that are listed state they fit all 2011 trousers and I can't find any that are for 2012 trousers? Thanks
  10. Hi all, I am in need of the varried experience of the fellow arbtalkers. My situation is quite simple, I am currently wearing my 5th or 6th pair of hiflex type c's but as all of you know they are not the most hard wearing of trouser. As far as work goes I mainly climb whether it be trees or hedges. A bit of felling, and my fair Share of dragging brash. So do I buy a pair of Pfanner standard stretch air type c or; pfanner stretch air gladiator vents or; Buy a pair of type c Oregon Waipahu type c AND a pair of cheaply Oregon Yukon type a's. the only other trousers I have tried are huskys (didn't like and less hard wearing than the hi flex) and hiflex which I like but fancy a change and hopefully get something to last longer Thanks for the replies in advance
  11. Hi mate I have a Balfor 16 ton tow behind with the Honda engine. And it is awesome! There is not a log I have found that the "log dog" can't split, dead, green twisted, knarly, blah blah blah it doesn't matter. Got it from apine tractors
  12. I think all you guys are sugar coating the real answer to this question....... Unfortunately you are too old to start in this game. Maybe if you had some sort of previous relevant experience. You would be staring not as a grounds man but a twig picker/ branch dragger. Look on previous threads to see the type of money that you could be earning. £50-60 for a dragger £65-100 for a proper groundy. There are climbers and then there are climbers. I know one "conifer expert climber who is on £100 per day then another guy is an arborist climber and he is a snip at £200 per day. To get to £200 per day comes with a great deal of experience and time, there is no coarse for that i'm afraid Look luck though hope I am wrong. Horatio

  15. Hi guys looking for a little help, advice etc. Have just brought a little Rayco 13 stump grinder from Daniel@Chippertech, used it a couple of times now and the teeth are getting a tad worn. Wanted to find out from you guys where you all get your grinder finger teeth from? Got told by a mate it doesn't matter how expensive they are they are wear the same. So, I suppose the real question is where can I get cheap grinder finger teeth from and how much do you pay??? Cheers Guys, Horatio
