  1. NICE, but im not sure about the legs Only my personal opinion mate
  2. I exchange my timber for free rent on a farm where I keep my kit so works well for me, I agree with Huck as it is so labour intensive and money is easier made doing tree works
  3. Is Timbrel still available on the market to buy? Would Tordon* 22K do the job???
  4. Sounds like a mint bit of kit, just need one with a bigger back for a chip-box and 10 years for it to depreciate so I can afford one lol Something for the future!
  5. Bit far from me in Newcastle or I would have been interested Good luck though mate
  6. Are you allowed a Helicopter?
  7. All im after is a simple yes/no answer to get to grips with statistics of tree work companies selling on their timber as logs and who just gets rid Ill start it off with a big fat 'no'
  8. I worked Monday with £40 labour I worked Tuesday with £100 labour We had Wednesday off I worked Thursday with £140 Labour and turned over £2950 not a bad week... This is all good and well but the most important thing is profit! My outgoings are high as I like to have good kit and a nice house and a nice car, everybody likes different ways of living and if your business allows that lifestyle then big pat on the back for you guys/gals!
  9. I remember talking with a mate who did utility work for Fountains, he told me he had seen someone operating with a JCB Fastrac with a chip-box on the back and a rear mount chipper. Has anyone had any experience of this? Better still, has anyone got any photos??
  10. Id make my new recruit climber up there for his initiation and tell him if any of it drops in the field im telling the farmer, and he's massive lol
  11. Im onto my second one but this one is due for a change now, there is a lovely new greenmech out that i saw at a show but it was only a 6" machine where i couldn't be done with a littl'n now And the older greenmech's had that bloody awful plastic cover ugh...
  12. When I left college and was doing bits of work for myself (not as a company), I used to charge £100 per day for me alone and I was over the moon with £500 profit in a week!! I know what your saying mate but he has to get the pricing rite early on or will become not so liked by other contractors in the area for pinching all the work at low prices and believe me he'll need to call upon these contractors one day!
  13. As above What are you towing it with? Id personally go Timberwolf 190 all day long, ive had these since 2004 and they never go wrong even with abuse! Youll pick one up for 6-9k i recon
  14. OMG im so expensive! We charge £250 - £300 for a morning and £500 - £600 for a full day £100 for 3 1/2 hours work??? Surly not!!
  15. CVC in Blaydon, Newcastle. They were 5K cheeper than Tip Master for the same spec!!!
  16. Great looking set up! It looks more suited behind your 7.5 tonner than it did behind my Hi-Lux!
  17. I know where there is a lovely Canter for sale........
  18. As above, if your work can warrant a Unimog then IMO this is the vehicle over the other 2 only because of its carrying capability (legally). I think the question you need to ask is: If most of my work is within x amount of miles from my yard/home and most of my work consists of large takedowns/hedge trimming etc, I also have x amount of staff. On average I make x amount of trips to tip off per day which vehicle would you advise? For my work I would be best off with a Mog (U1600 or U1650), and a 3.5t for small jobs that are too far away to make it cost affective to take the Mog. Mogs are mint for jobs that warrant them but can be a pain and not cost affective for jobs which dont. Hope this helps Hope this helps
  19. Welcome matey!! Try A Cut Above, think he's not far from you and you'll learn a lot from Chris White! Good luck
  20. What ever i do the cowboys will always be far cheeper, aslong as i have something to set me aside from my main 2 competitors ill be happy with that. Your very true about AAAC will never change the industry or see of the cowboys, nice thought though Ill let you know how the assessment goes mate
  21. I know ther pe are alot of small contractors that do fantastic work, im one of them but there are more small contractors that do sub standard work, all i was meaning by my comments about if everyone had to be arb approved it would help raise the standard. I was by no means saying only arb approved contractors do the best work as i know this is not true, but i do still think there should be a standard to work to for everyone whether this is arb approved or someThing else, i know it will never happen, i was just mearly commenting and having a bit of a rant about bad tree work
  22. Thats one serious set up mate, looks mint!!
