  1. Hello all, I am an assistant forestry surveyor in Edinburgh. I used to be in a chainsaw squad and have all the ground saw tickets and a chipper ticket. I have also completed an aerial rescue ticket but have not got my ticket for the use of a chainsaw when climbing. Furthermore I am halfway through completing an M.Sc in Forestry. I also have my own chainsaw - Husqy 555 and all my own PPE and a car. I am looking for paid work during the weekends to help build my experience and help me to continue paying my way through uni (tuition fees are astronomical). If ANYBODY out there in Edinburgh or surrounding area would consider taking on some help I would be extremely grateful. I am capable, hard working and dependable. Thankyou all, Dave

  3. Hello all, Im moving to Aberdeen to study an MSc in Forestry but need some part time work to fund the effort. I have my NPTC basic, medium and wind-blow tickets as-well as the aerial rescue ticket. Im well experienced in the ground work but pretty new to climbing. Anyone know any tree surgeons or contractors that may need a helping hand in the area???? Thanks Dave
  4. Dear all, Im 24 and living in the Edinburgh area. I have my crosscutting and small tree felling tickets aswell as the wood chipper and have recently returned from Estonia working for an environmental charity felling non native unwanted trees. Where do I go from here? Ive tried various job advertisements, but without more qualifications im struggling to get noticed. Im currently working for a gardening company; attempting to save for further courses but its taking time. Apprenticeships are scarce and im not getting any younger. Please Help.
  5. Hello Hodge, thankyou very much. Updated my profile now. Im based in Edinburgh. I'll have look around local businesses and send of some letters. Would you suggest getting some academic education then if im to make my way in? Also, congratulations on the league win. Newcastle weren't quite so successful.
  6. Hello there, i recently joined the website and wondered if someone could answer my query. I'm extremely interested in getting involved in Arboriculture but don't know the best way to do it. Im 23 and have my basic chainsaw tickets; maintenance, small tree felling and wood-chipping. If someone could be a wee shove in the right direction i would be incredibly grateful. Thanks, Toast
