  1. Sometimes coming back through the same V as your redirect can lead to this problem, however there are ways around it! Like benn has said if there isn't much of an angle in the line then sometimes whist pushing your self away from the fork itself whilst standing on the pantin can do the trick! Or if you do need to redirect and it's going to be a redirect you need to come back through then set a false redirect up with a sling and bina either a little further out from the fork or a little higher than the fork is better, allowing you to come above the fork without struggling to get back through it. I only ever use natural redirects if I'm never going back up the same route Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. So the last hour I've stripped the brash from a lawson cypress, Seen here in between another lawson and scots pine. I then tip tied into the pole removed my spikes and swung across into the pine and redirected to continue on and deadwood the pine At the same time as that a carried out a dismantle on another smaller lawson cypress whist heading down I left my working end of my line over a limb so it was out the way of my cutting operation, which brings me to why I'm posting in here! Some if you may or may not know that the hitchhiker has no pulley to tend slack and there's been numerous comments on here and else where of people asking or saying it can't or is it smooth tending slack? Well the answer to that is yes!! I can't fault it in that sense. Which led me to trying out leaving my working end of my line over a limb so see how it did pulling through a vertical end??? Ill be perfectly honest and say I had no problems what's so ever it's just as smooth as any pulley on the way down! Which led me to my next question? I wonder how it does in a 3:1 ratio if I pulled down on the work end of my line using the branch it was over as the leverage??? My answer! Absolutely no issue at all! It's not quite as smooth as a pulley in this configuration but there certainly is no flaws! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App

  8. The main top was reduced by only a couple if feet, probably standing at around 20m in height but approximately 45m wide, the house and garden side was reduced by 2.5-3m it was a great tree to work on and and even equal team to work with, plenty of time so the job was done to a very high standard. I wanted to get some photos myself but was rushed of as Alex went into labour but luckily the climbing was finished, the last time I spoke to Dan they had 3 load of wood chip of it with still some more to come to wang through the chipper. It was also nice because it gave me an opportunity to show what I could do with a firm a had not previously worked for before thanks James and Dan. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. That has surprised me Tony as I'm really loving it working around the tree, for me it's defiantly on par with the performance of the wrench Also I much prefer ascending on the hitchhiker for one main reason being its the same length as the hitch climber pulley and hitch and nothing above it! there for more room for a hand ascender and no crashing Into the wrench Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. The hitchhiker is great when chogging down a stem its nice just to have that bit of extra space where the rope wrench used to sit chocked off Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App

  16. No rain today for us guys in hot and humid Norwich there was a little SRT action in the afternoon and out come the hitchhiker stripped this 45ft cedar which had about a ton of wire in it from an old crows nest! I asked Ian what the hell they feed there birds round that way, there was bits of tv aerials chicken wire the lot!!!!! Anyway just thought I'd post this picture in here for you Ali Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Thanks mate, the only problem with the zk1 is it is a little wider and my tethers use 8mm liros so there would be an awful amount of play. It would take something hideous looking at the top eye to stop the zk1 falling into neutral. Zk2 is by far the better of the 2 IMO Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. Why would it be any safer mate? Edit sorry mate see what your saying now, safer as referring to the corner traps not the lots attachment point Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. Very nice and neat mate, defiantly will give the 10mm a try, nice whipping what length did you do the cord at? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Yes I've already had that happen tony, the one I made is loads shorter than the top of the heat sink but some how still managed to get stuck over the top, took me a while to get it of to, so tighter eyes and a little shorter thanks again Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. Yes I could just stitch another one up with a tight eye!! Thanks tony Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. I agree with Pete there needs to be some kind of flame, and keep moving it to around the area of the heat wrap to get the consistent finish Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. I've always found the Knut so much better than any other hitch it's very responsive and never binds. Looking forward to trying a few hitch cords on the HH Do any of you other use a piece of rubber to stop the crab from turning round when not under load? I had it do that once the other day. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. Ill give it a blast tony, I've not found a cord that runs badly on kernmaster yet and I'm sure with your little technique I can follow get it on the HH and let you know how I get on when Ive had a play with it Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. Yes that's what I'd imagined also I know of only a couple of cords that are true to there mm's ocean polly being one and amour prus the other it also goes the same for ropes. Ill buy a load of everything and give them a whirl Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
