  3. No worries mate, Ali all it is is 8mm cord cross stitched to form 2 eyes then had some stein heat wrap from my rope wrench tethers. Carl be carefull it doesn't hook over the top of the hitch hiker it effects the decent mode and could become dangerous have fun with it Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. I have 2 kernmaster ropes, ok one was a nice present from someone but it's still awesome rope, I love that it has a little bounce in it, and it only really becomes bouncy when the whole hank is nearly being used. For 60/70 footers it's fine, 100ft+ then yeah, but that's going to Be similar with most other lines. I've tried the cougar blue and I have to say it really is nice and very static. As for taking a fall on it??? Then you really need to route yourself better in the tree, during SRTWP operations you really shouldn't be in a fall arrest position, not anything that's going to generate that amount of force anyway. Regardless of if you rate kernmaster or not you can't say it's defiantly not worth it's price tag! Over £100 cheaper than cougar blue and still does the same job! Horses for courses here again with this one I'm afraid. It really is like saying I prefer my harness to another. What ever suits you I guess Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. Just stitch one up, if you keep the eyes tight and the length as short as possible it's as sweet as a nut, and Ben you know you can have a blast on mine anytime Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Ok you have a compression fork which if I had used just the left hand side limb then even a small shock load could of caused it to tear away from the main stem! To strengthen it I not only wanted to support the top, but the base of the union need to be supported also I could of used a ratchet but used the sling and pulley instead which the pulley was then able to redirect the rigging line from the front load to a side load effectively spreading the load of the forward and side motion I got from rigging off it. 9. Compression forks on a conifer which we need to use for rigging part of another over a green house, bottom sling and pulley was used to support the union, the top pulley was on the weaker stem then I used the tail end of the dead eye to brace the two stems together, the conifer being rigged out was taken down in 7 pieces, then felled Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App

  14. Still on the kern mate unless I bought some cougar blue I'd defiantly stick with kern As for the changes to the HH mate I'd defiantly go down the stainless steal route all parts as the side grub screws that hold the plates and alloy heat sink together are rusting up every time it gets wet, so nothing major just cosmetic buddy glad you ok though mate 👍 Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Regardless of what petzl may state, in tree work 10 year life span for a helmet is just not viable. Number 1 degrading of plastics is uv rays from our sun, Number 2 oil spray from a running saw and also petrol fumes are just as likely to cause the helmet to weaken. The list goes on when you look at what we do to them, 5 years is more than enough time to cover the cost of one on a daily basis. When you look at it it really is the most used piece of PPE we use. And I once was told on this forum that although the hygiene kits seem cheap and effective there really is no substitute for something new... Obviously this is my own view on helmets and others may differ Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
