  1. Cheers bud Tim that is one sexy hinge good work
  2. I personally hated the zk1 don't ask me why because the only thing I can think of is just how wide it is, the zk2 is more streamline a lot lighter and smaller and I love it to bits, it's just sexy when you look at it from an engineering point of view. Well worth a try obviously if you can without buying one but well worth the investment when you feel the need to change over. For what it cost also I don't care if it ain't broken the zk1 is pants compared to the zk2
  3. Couple that I've posted on another thread but thought I'd just go into a little more detail with some of them. 8 old pollarded lime trees to be felled each with there own felling cuts to match the scenario. Except for one dog tooth. Ok so the dog tooth was done as a couple of the lads I was working for had no knowledge or understanding of what one was or used for, the lime I did it on was the only one with a slight forward lean on it so a decent opportunity to set it up then refuel just so they got the idea of the holding timber being left from the bore. There where a couple straight fells And a couple of wedge fells Which one of them I had felled between two shrubs being retained. Here's a picture after we de-brashed it. And a couple of Danish and split level cuts were used for back Leaners and levered over With the felling bar. Split level
  4. Hand stitched mate, they serve no purpose as safety goes there just for tending slack mate
  5. A good photo says a thousand words. Thanks mate
  6. So I've just sat here and read through this whole thread. Very interesting I will say the least. I loved this forum, I still want to love this forum, but quite frankly I don't feel welcome sometimes. There are some great people on here that have always given 100% good sound advice be it written, pictures, or video! NOW......what some people don't think about.. Wait let me rephrase that... What some people tend to forget is that we are all different, we don't just look different!! We talk different, act different, smell different, WRITE different which a lot of people always forget and that is the downside to reading! There's no emotion there! Everyone digs at something. wether there just trying to be funny or there being dramatically serious is down to you how you read it! If it's sooooo bad and the mods haven't seen it! then report it, if it's still there next week then you need to consider how you read posts in the future because there was obviously nothing wrong with it. my writing is terrible, how many grammar/spelling mistakes are in this post? It's readable and half of its ok, most is just dribble. I want the forum to go back to the way it was 7/8 months ago. There are people still trying to keep the old girl on the straight but straight ain't good enough when there's icebergs ahead... So if you want to save the forum then help out, if you don't care what happens then fair dues, but if your just going to stay to help sink it then just quite simply off!!! I try and help we're I can and I know from response and feedback it's mostly appreciated. If I'm honest though most posts I see are turning into the one main reason I don't competition climb!!!! I'm going to carry on dribbling now! Because I can!! I've made a lot of friends on here some I even work for, I can honestly say I'd be nothing without it. But if it wasn't for me making an effort and posting what I do then i wouldn't have the freelance work I have. Maybe it doesn't matter so much to someone who works for someone or owns there own business, or lives in another country but it matters to me and it matters to others. Thanks for taking the time to read how you feel fit to read it Adam
  7. Hedra is very nice but no different to the orange and blue flec, and blue and orange flec kernmaster. Just different colour And comes in different sizes and strands
  8. Don't even need a bina, if you take a long bite of rope you can just tie a cow hitch very affective but does require a little more rope. Glad you fount that useful though mate
  9. This mornings efforts 8 pollarded lime trees to fell to 2ft stumps ready for the digger to rip them out! Original plan was to climb??? Naaa!!! Just fell em
  10. Switching between that and my old orange kernmaster mate there isn't much between them. I don't mind a little stretch but to be honest it really isn't that bad. Impressed with it so far
  11. If anyone is thinking about advertising within the industry then you won't get better than this, the forum itself is visited by hundreds of potential customers everyday. Every topic of tree work discussed in this forum comes up in a google search, it really is a no brainer. And for you freelance climbers/groundies??? Come on guys!! The forum is home to over 16,000 members some of which post everyday looking for hired help like yourself's. Try it out you know it makes sense
  12. Spot on mate, it really is nice rope to, again a bit slippery on the bare hands being 11mm, but very nice to work off
  13. It sure is mark, it's a portawinch, there's a bit at the beginning of the video with me using it, well worth the investment from anyone!
  14. Thanks for the response guys, I'm sure I speak for Ian on this also and maybe others!! but I feel the industry videos have become an oversight and many are edited so that they look like everything runs smoothly but in actual fact there far from the truth. This tree was no different, what looked like a relatively small easy ish cedar dismantle turned out to be a little monster, with some careful planning I feel we knocked it out in good time, Ian certainly did very well to keep up, it's funny really as it wasn't that long ago I said to him that his chipper that he used to use was costing him money and time! That certainly wasn't the case that day. The chipper was an animal. Along with an array of rigging equipment that would make any climber that loves his job cream in his pfanners, the job went as well as I'd could! but far from as better as it should. Here's a couple of photos I took and one of Ian's at the end

  21. Technically speaking Ian did the rigging I just tied the rope and cut... It was nice to have to minds to route the tree, both of us threw ideas at each other. 'Twas a good day! Did you get any shots of the rigging point after we had finished Ian? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk Mobile App
