I can see were you and everyone is coming from mate but if i feel that this will work for me then i'm up for it... even 5 years is a long time but still enough time to have an accident so this i feel is a bit of an arse:thumbdown: but from a of a personnel point of view i think this maybe the answer to my head ache... i think your theory on first aid is a great idea ideally it should be done as much as LOLER But in the real world of money this is just not possible, unless instead of trying to change the industrie how about we let the industrie change us, its not hard to change the day rate we all work for.... So everyone its time to up your prices (or maybe not)

I don't know really why i'm bothering to reply to this thread as i don't see why it is a big issue.....But here Goes. For a while now i've been suffering from a condition i can't explain, i wake up and go to work......(normal you might say) but not if every single minute of the day you think to yourself you are not coming home, and every move in the tree i think could be my last.......this all started when my little girl was born last year, and after a year its calmed down a little but i still get thoughts now and then...... but after a nice bit of advice from Rupe yesterday (who IMO is and absolute star) i went to work this morning feeling better about my self and the thoughts of something going wrong was there but nowhere near as bad as what they've been this last year.... Now i've been climbing now for nearly 13 years i'm as safe and experienced and a dam good climber as they come, and i think that refresher coarse's are a good thing, in the sense that we stay out of getting into bad habbits and don't deny it as we all do the odd one hand cut and catch now and then....Now in Rupes advice he advised me to take a refresher coarse which IMO will give me some reasurance back and keep me up to date with a few other things.....so these people just don't want your money like its been said but they are here to save your life or to stop you doing something you all say .........Me have an accident na i'm to good to have an accident that will never happen to me..... Year Right o.... but once its done its to late..... Thanks for the advice Rupe i'll remember what you told me for years to come...

i've had my carbon gekos for nearly 10 years now, ok they may need some new straps and the padding has had some new velcro put on them but there awesome, light and as a shin splint sufferer there the most comfy for me....

hi james, for what its worth just spend that little extra and get what you want mate, the tree runner is great and for less than £230 its a bargain but then you only have to put another 150 or so quid to it to get the stein rc3001.......and the stein speaks for its self you can't go wrong with either of them, they both do the same job just the stein is gonna be more than robust......think of it like this if reg coates (the designer) can't break it you definitely aint gonna break it:lol: the tree runner is just another bollard that does exactly whats its ment to do so what you should be thinking is instead of going for the tree runner is it not worth waiting another week without something you have not had for the past god knows how long and buy the stein.....hope that made sense the rc2000 looks good, and for someone who wants in between a portawrap/capstan then this is your answer, all lowering devises are great things, that get the job done quicker easier and safer and if that involves playing around with stuff like mark has with his, or home made stuff like rupe has and robert,s has all the better for us that love to whatch read listern and learn............all these things are what makes this industrie so special....

yeah i wanted to buy the stein rc3001 but know one had used the tree runner so thought i would try and test for everyone.... i know i'm a good bloke no need to thank me just kinda thing i do:sneaky2: @mark sounds good mate got any pictures ?

i have the tree runner p500 but as for being able to drop big pieces on them, there safe working load limit is no different from a capstan or portawrap its safe working load limit is 500kg but thats still a big lump.....its the stein rc3000 that can take more than the tree runner as you can take the retaining mounts of it and cut the back plate into the tree taking its SWL from 500kg to 3000kg but thats no reason to push your equipment to that extreme... my opinion is you get what you pay for i bought the tree runner just for trial purpose only just so people can read what i have to say about it and if its good value for money....and yes it is.... i would not bother with the rc2000 or any other capstan/portawrap anymore as the tree runner and in the fuuture the stein rc3001 will be my main use in lowering...there just quick simple and very effective hope this has help mate....

Yes mate you can but thats not what this thread is about..... anyone can make a cheap first aid kit up but Arb-Aid has its own unique stuff, and for what its worth its better than buying another green crappy one that just falls apart even though its never been open.

for those who have not seen the Arb-Aid yet thought i would scan this.

In the mid 90's there was a murder inquiry somewhere down south, they had a susspect but could not find any hard evidence to place this person at the scene.... then after a local detective went to the suspects house for some reason or another they came across his truck....in the back was a broken branch from an oak tree a Holm oak, Quercus ilex..... Now not knowing much about trees or plant life the detective went to the murder scene to see what he could find,....few hours later he had come across (what he thought was the same tree as the branch he had found....he called for forensic detectives to see what they could put together. The forensic team had discovered that the tree was infact a holm oak, or a mediterainen oak, or a holly oak or evergreen oak and many more names......But the latin name quercus ilex put all these names in to one box. However...this was still not enough evidence, Yeah sure they had a branch in his truck from a spieces of tree that just so happen to be at the murder scene but after some reseach from local tree officers there just so happened to be 45 more quercus ilex in the sourounding area.... so back to the drawing board it was....or not for the detective who thought that the tree was still the answer....if in someway he could prove that this branch was from the same tree as the one from the murder scene... so he decided to go back to the forensic team with a theory....... he wanted to know if there was anychance that a tree had a totally Unique dna strand like everything else on this planet...so they set out and got samples from all the other quercus ilex in the area and started the reseach....... the results where asstonishing, There were identified over 45,000 protein-coding genes, more than any other organism sequenced to date, approximately twice as many as present in the human genome. and they also match the branch with the tree from the murder scene....(case closed) there was no paticuluar reason for me writing this story only to share with those that did not know about trees having dna, as for latin names there will come a time when the names are usefull so not lerning them is not going to be detremental to your climbing or understanding of how the tree timber your working on reacts different at different times of the year.....nor will it affect you getting a job and/or pricing work up but it does help and it makes things simple only for those who know what your talking about..... unlike me i have know idea what i'm talking about i was just trying to place my order from tescos and ended up here....

haha i did this once then after they took the girl to hospital i had stayed with for an hour (bearing in mind she had 2 broken legs) the copper noticed i had no road tax oooops! got let of with a warning, for being a good citizen and stacey made a full recovery and still talk to this day even though we had never spoken to each other before.

haha whats that old saying mate (Respect your Elders) wonder if all the other trees agreed with that saying when that old beech dropped its top. guess your right in a sense though... maybe pollarding has been forgotten

Cool video mate, was it wind that caused it to fail or you not sure of that, or are your thoughts more towards the weight of the regrowth.
