  1. Quite.
  2. Hang on. The AWAH is Chinese too it seems. Suddenly it's not cheap. I am playing devil's advocate to an extent btw. China CAN make good stuff. And I do know you'd run a prussik above either. I'm not buying one though. Anyone who does that stupid thumbs up because they were told to would forge a material conformity certificate because they were told to.
  3. What's the point of them?
  4. It's not the same device though. It's a device made by people who don't care if it breaks and paralyses you.
  5. 30 feet (9 metres ish) was about the number I plucked out of the air for a size it might be worth putting a powered ascender on for (as a starting point at least - there are plenty of 150 foot trees where one wouldn't do you any good). I do get how it seems faffy and weak for trees that are only say 45 feet but we need to get into the habit of being lazier in this industry. Sod all this going home tired and not being able to pick up a pint without your forearms cramping. People should get back in the door with more energy than they had when they got to work and then use it to **************** the wife so she can't walk.
  6. Does that mean two stroke engine or two tonne pull?
  7. To send a message.
  8. You'll get away with camping just by being foreign and apologetic but I'd take the van for security. Some arsehole will knife your tent.
  9. Frozen to death or foxed to death do you mean?
  10. He looks quite annoyed. Good work. Squid's delicious.
  11. Could not care less. I'd take a taxi round the tree if I could. Climbing is just the inconvenient necessity performed between the actually productive work of cutting stuff.
  12. I can't believe what I'm reading. You don't want the energy of a sixteen-year-old, all day, every day for the cost of a 2018 Ford Fiesta? A few years from now, climbing without one will be as unthinkable as hipthrusting. Between now and then, anyone without one is going to be outcompeted by anyone with one.
  13. I don't mind coriander in food but a field of it growing is repulsive.
  14. I'm trying to avoid climbing ever again but if that wasn't the case, I'd have a powered ascender tomorrow. £1500 for the AWAH is dirt cheap. £5000 for the Husky or any of the other bigger ones is still very cheap. On a tree of any size at all, you'll make anyone who doesn't have one look disabled or dead.
  15. Fresh parsely is such an easy touch to make things better. About to do a pheasant curry. Imagine that.
  16. Look up capstan winches.
  17. I had chips for lunch and I’m drinking for dinner.
  18. Presented on a bed of cooperatively grown local microgreens and accompanied by a gnocchi, raw grain and ethnic bean salad? Aye. Tharal do fer wes tea eh, @Mark Bolam
  19. Remind us what your last contribution to the cooking thread was... Northerner indeed. Kent can keep you.
  20. Fuxking amateur.
  21. I suspect he instead needs to be on a severe diet to fit in that cab. They’re not big machines.
  22. Depends what he wants to happen with the wood and how much time you have. Could be that you just wheelbarrow a big saw and your lunch across there.
  23. Good reference post.
