  1. I've got a Makita cordless drill with hammer setting but it's probably a bit light. I'm happy to turn them in with a tommy bar for how often I'll use them. Need them for pulling over backleaning trees. Suffolk clay and sandy/chalky clay (good base for anchors I'd have thought?).
  2. Can you screw them in rather than hammer them?
  3. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/An7ZB5dM-gg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  4. Spirafix Ground Anchors Home Page Anyone used these? I can't imagine the tops last long when they've been installed (with a hammer) a few times.
  5. I hope ArthurBottlesworth is serious because it sounds like a great idea to me.
  6. Det cord and grinder or some kind of shear on a digger. Skips/airburner. £20,000. One day. Should've called me.
  7. Is this something that you have to be in on to know that it's actually for spies or men who wear leather?
  8. Interesting. What are the bottom of the drive links fouling? Is there maybe one low point or something stuck in the groove?
  9. Last picture and your signature go together nicely!
  10. Rails too low so bottom of drive link is bottoming out on bottom of groove. Put some metal back on the rails.
  11. Durham parkrun Parkruns are a great idea. The clock starts at 09:00 every Saturday and stops when you scan your barcode through the finish line. They text you your time so you can try and beat it next week. I hate running but I do like competition so I can put up with 5k every now and again. I've not done the Durham one but the http://www.parkrun.org.uk/gibside/ is a lovely course through the woods.
  12. Would people be speaking so highly of his give-it-a-go attitude if there were 3 of him in a blue Transit and they had Irish accents?
  13. Does anyone else use the cradle method but throwing backwards over their head? I can generally get more power from it.
  14. Reckon he'll be able to ride it out until, oh, I don't know, say, maybe, May 8th?
  15. Bolam will be taking notes for his upcoming mockumentary.
  16. Hopefully, with the strong winds in the week, people have loads of work they need to catch up on over the weekend. I'm available to help. Fit and intelligent 27-year-old who likes long days, hard work and good pay. I arrive on time (by which I mean early) in my own vehicle with PPE and kit for grounding or climbing. Alex 07929 855913
  17. Or is it someone with their hands tied behind their back? Rorschach test.
  18. A couple of recent threads here caught my eye; the closing the mines thread and the ebola panic thread. For Steve to make (more?) money out of arbtalk, how about a built in betting platform that lets spectators vote on: How long it takes for a thread to get locked Who locks it Why it got locked Who got it locked (BONUS JACKPOT) Votes are anonymous to avoid mod bias. To your beers and keyboards, arbtalk!
  19. Many thanks. Is driver training or similar your profession or are you just informed because you've taken the time to find out anyway?
  20. Sounds good. Do you have a link to any of the .gov sites regarding towing on l-plates or are they one of the grey areas? Can't imagine why it wouldn't be as obvious as all the easy to find towing stuff...
  21. Thank you very much. Another couple while you're still here: -Can I tow on a motorway with L-plates and a licenced passenger? -Where do you get your info? 'ROG. told me' will unfortunately not convince many police/magistrates. Not asking to antagonise; just need to be sure.
  22. Hang on. This is interesting! I got my licence after 1997 and before 2013. Are you saying I can put L-plates on my 3.5 tonne vehicle, sit a pre-1997 licence holder in the passenger seat and tow a 3.5 tonne trailer? And my pre-97 licence passenger doesn't need to be insured but my insurance needs to cover me for >750kg towing while supervised? Really as easy as that? Sounds too good to be true.
  23. No particular disrespect to the last poster but this thread is going round in circles and has been nearly as useless as I feared it might. I'm not going to post any more. Many thanks to the helpful posters.
