  1. 😂 that has always been a major problem! I did the whole thing myself so I'll get someone who can spell to check over it for me. Thanks mate
  2. Ok here is my effort, http://www.atkinsonarb.co.uk there are still a few niggles that I need to iron out. If your viewing it on a computer could someone please tell me if the icons on the main page appear above the contact details! There my bain 😂
  3. Get a single cab or a single cab with a roller tool box, correct yellow isn't the best (I should know) but at least people remember you haha. It used to be the national gypsies colour but they have now all moved onto white transit tippers 😂
  4. Exactly as you put them, the old ones with the non turbo 'banana engine' were very slow, I had a crew cab one but this keeps going, i keep saying "if it lasts 6 more months I'll be surprised" 😂 but it seems to carry the weight very well with the full aluminium back its very light, I used to work with a guy who had a crewman vw like previously stated, terribly underpowered and ridiculously heavy, also used a Citroen crew cab, and we had to uprate the rear springs, it would bottom out on a daily basis, but whatever you choose get a aluminium back, the weight they save is worth it
  5. But the interior and fittings are pretty pants 😂
  6. You know what is a bomb proof truck, if you can find one is a LDV convoy tipper, I still run my second one, ex council with low miles, very light, double wheels with a transit turbo engine. Had this one for around 4/5 years, and only had a few problems (welding) only thing that is a pain is parts, but there cheap, meaning you can save your money for a body.
  7. No it goes towards paying the billions of pounds paying for the overweight people with diabetes in our hospitals, paying tax or not. My goal....pay less tax and employ more Eastern European.
  8. The problem I had when looking into a o licence was the yard aspect. My truck lives on my drive, my yard is basically a old bit of woodland my farther owns with zero security. When I looked into getting a 7.5t my concern was, would they class my drive as a operators yard? Anyone else running a 7.5t from a normal house?
  9. What I'm using right now, ring locked off one side with a alpine butterfly fly below, carabiner as backup incase it undoes itself. Ignore the little dmm crab it's not necessary. Can be installed from the ground or tree
  10. Thanks for the answer, this is one area I need to really polish up on is there any courses regarding this available? Sorry for the de real
  11. Slightly off topic, kind of. What are the rules regarding risk assessments and use freelance workers, say I'm doing a job and I have a freelance climber in, just the two of us, do I need to make sure he has lolar? Do I have to do a full risk assessment? I'm sorry if this has been done to death. I was told that if there are more than 5on site there should be a risk assessment, which I do, but for less?
  12. What about the new vermeer 190xl? Lols a well built machine, just not many around
  13. A perfect response, many people in the uk climb large awkward trees often l,depending where in the country you live, if you can easily spike up a tree from the base every time your not doing many big trees or your not bothered about how long it takes. It is all dependant on what kind of work you do, if your doing silver birches and conifers in your neighbours back garden you don't need a ascender, if your doing a 100ft leggy Ash tree that is over a house, greenhouse and wires then an ascender system would be very welcome
  14. 😂😂😂😂 but in a serious note it looks like a advert for a foreign bride
  15. Seems quite the machine. After all the a540 is billed as a bigger thing altogether
  16. Ok, interesting, what is the grand figure of a new one if you don't mind me asking?
  17. What were the issues mate?
  18. Now is it really true what some dealers have told me about the 230 being as good as a 190? It seems a little unbelievable if I'm going to be honest. How many have or are using both? It would be greatly appreciated. I'm also pretty interested in the Jensen a540
  19. I use both, but I like pulleys, seem quicker to Install for redirects not having to thread the rope through as I rope with carabiners, slings and a Sherrill bone thing. But I do use a shizll which I have to say I love especially on trees where it's the only lowering point needed. But since getting a Winch bollard I feel to many rings dotted around adds a lot more friction than pulleys. All depends on the type of work I guess
  20. I personally feel that the problem is that men starting out don't want to stick with a firm long enough to learn every little detail of the job, they get the tickets then instantly want more money, jumping straight into saying they can do everything because they have the tickets, they can't. Even though I found it difficult the best thing I did was learn on the job with one company for many years. Then I contract climbed along side it. Now I run my own business and I have a core few subbies I use. One travels around 1.5 hours, he also owns his own company, so he isn't cheap, but he can do everything, technical Rigging, big felling, the lot, he is worth 2 "lads" then I go and help him for big climbing stuff. Once you find someone reliable and good don't hesitate to pay correctly. Also without sounding like a pedo, keep an eye out to see if you have any mates or relatives with lads leaving school. Often you can tell they will be good by there parents and there upbringing. Train them up.
  21. 😂 I like honesty. If we all liked the same stuff it wouldn't be much fun. Arbtalk probably wouldn't exist haha
  22. Most people think that about the break, but it does help when you want to switch from winching to lowering and you want to take some raps off, but if you really don't like it it can be detached and used like a GRCS. I'm guessing it was needed for the CE marking. Yea your right about corrosion, the LD1 is welded steel like the GRCS 👍🏻 This is the video which I made, bit long and I'm no natural speaker so bare with it
  23. In this country you would be hard pushed to out do either 😂
  24. There isn't much between them. I guess if your into big negative Rigging the LD2 has a larger bollard, also plate is all aluminium and bolted not welded together (no rust in the English weather and easy to check if the bolts are tight not easy to check welds) but that's about the only difference. Maybe the break can hold more on the LD2? But I don't know without looking it up. GRCS are not CE marked, makes like a little more difficult for LOLAR and if it broke and destroyed a house (insurance) and it doesn't have the break! Whichever, LD1 and LD2 you go do you won't be disappointed.
  25. Thanks mate 👍 I wanted to try and get as much info in it as I could as there flipping expensive so you want to know what it's all about, probably pretty boring for some though 😂
