Intelligent and erudite response . I work for a few Farmers now and again, and yes, admittedly their budgets can be ‘challenging ‘ on occasion [emoji849], but they can often be an incredibly useful contact. Great potential chip drop. Often happy to receive truck loads of cack wood eg willow, softwood etc which can save valuable time returning back to base......and I’ve also been allowed to fish their rivers and shoot their land on occasion . All of which makes it worthwhile in my opinion, taking a slight hit on the price for what ‘appears’ to be a straight forward quick job [emoji1303]

My thoughts exactly . It appears from a cursory glance like a stand in fork and gob each stem out in opposing directions . Not technical and barely any climbing . I’d say £150 was pretty do-able given potentially you’d be back in the truck with the engine started inside the hour........and that would include a cup of tea and a nice biccy that I’m sure we’d be treated to !!!

Ooooooh yes.....sometimes on a nigh on daily basis. That said, the New Year sees me with gritty resolve to tackle up again and give it a final fling before I’m 50. ......that, and I’m getting a belly and a gock [emoji30] which needs to go !!!!

I’ve done quite a few crane jobs over the years but none for quite some time. I tried to book in a crane for a roadside job but the company has told me I now need a licence from the County Council. I ‘phoned them and they tell me to apply for a ‘temporary structure licence ‘ for £375!!!! Has anyone else found a way around this? Do you need such a licence to use a crane arm on the back of a timber truck to load the timber on ? Any pointers would be greatly welcomed (I hate needless forms, especially ones that cost £375!!!)

The black one is like a rigid artificial belt material . I’ve had a number of both the leather and artificial ones and they both seem to wear at a similar rate to be honest .

I got my last one from Honey Brothers. It had a secateur pouch on too which personally I find invaluable . Not sure whether they still do them as it was a few years ago.

In lieu of Ekogrips being discontinued, these are near as damn it. Galeton Super Gloves available from Sherrill USA. I am trying to find a UK supplier currently They need to stretch to fit during the first climb (think Levi’s 501’s in the bath) and grip like Jimmy Saville to a 9 year old . They are not as technically knitted as other gloves, but the grip, even in the wet is unsurpassed and as the latex wears it NEVER peels, just gently disappears leaving the knit. Caveat . Everyone’s different though

Is there still an outlet in the UK that can get hold of any/all of the Sherrill tree shiz? I know Gustharts have a handful of bits but I seem to remember that a while ago there was a uk distributor. Any ideas ?

I’ve never found anything to surpass these gloves for grip (now bloody discontinued) I must have tried in excess of 20 different pairs at least . Crinkle latex palms peel and get stuck Nitrile not as grippy as latex especially in wet. Pfanners not that grippy but nicely made Towas comfy but not as grippy. I have even emailed various manufacturers and international suppliers of gloves that looked a similar construction to the Eko grip but am still drawing blanks. I shall continue my quest ......... I shall try these (in fact just ordered them) I don’t find Pfanners that grippy but at least they don’t peel. All my fingers crossed ??

I’m in the Midlands near Stratford upon Avon as is the timber. Lengths as seen in photo (?!!?) average 80cm Diameters range from 26cm to 12cm and then a few smaller diameter. Cut down last October . Open to offers Does this help any ?

.......and of course today my lower strap broke...!!!!! Typical. So yes I did ‘phone ‘The Brothers’ and have ordered two small turned aluminium eyes that enable leather straps to be fitted (which I already have) I’ll let you know how comfy they are by comparison . Cheers Mark

Could anyone point me in the right direction to try and attract a buyer for some lengths of Mulberry I have for sale ? I’ve not a clue how to try and flog it , or should I just log it ?
