  1. This is the answer. Go to busy station with many pumps in rush hour. Position van to obscure attendants view, fill away furtively, chuckling like a Bond Villain
  2. With our combined arsenal of Makita and Dolmar saws, we're better equipped for the former, I'll grant you. If they send A-I in to get us, I'm gonna set Jon (Mendiplogs) on the bar stewards. He'll chew them up and spit them out, before making a Mad Max like exit across the wasteland in his Landy!
  3. The world is becoming an increasingly irritating, illogical and frustrating place. Legislation for the sake of it. Bring on The Apocalypse!
  4. If he doesn't reply within 24 hours it's safe to assume he followed Eggs' advice and is now in police custody!
  5. Aaaaaand...Sawtroll kills another interesting thread dead because some people are open minded enough to try something other than a blimmin Husqvarna. I'd love to know his opinions on my Cub Cadet saws? I'm gonna start printing his posts off too...to remind me to be open minded.
  6. Why did the mushroom go to the party? Because he was a fungi!
  7. relax... crack a beer... get on tinterweb. buy next chainsaw. repeat!
  8. That's pretty much what I'd envisaged before I got 'all fancy'. Hinged roof panels is a great idea, or sloping backwards would aid access. I can see why you went the other way (neighbours, nice stone wall etc) Thanks mate.
  9. Wow, are you kidding me? I'd move out of the house, fill that with wood and live there! It's idyllic!
  10. Thanks Brian, sounds perfect mate, I've got all the stuff..when can you start?
  11. Also good advice, the pitched roof is a must, and the bay idea was something I'd contemplated as my wood comes in sporadic 'batches' of varying ages and types. Thanks:thumbup1:
  12. Whilst I feel your pain as a provider of ready to use firewood. I would not be getting anyone else to deliver or stack my wood. It is all collected by me or delivered as felled/cord wood which I cut, split and season on my own. I even unload the truck if they deliver! Nobody other than me will have access to this log store. If it's not nig enough for 'the load delivered' then I'll extend it
  13. Thanks sailor. Great tip and a frugal solution. Might look into doing similar for myself and my parents, nice idea!
  14. 3 Eastern European honeys, Or 1 English lady. What did you have in mind Jon?
  15. That's a cracking job there Brian! May I ask, what was your modus operandi?
  16. Very nice Steve, Might need to recalibrate my ambition to something nearer that. I was all for welding up a small barn lol. Now that I look at the beautiful simplicity of those designs, I'm leaning back towards wood. Thanks
  17. Take the money and run! It's in the woods, who'd ever know! Unless it's BBC's 'Don't Tell The Bride'... In which case as many as 12 people may see you on telly, so be careful
  18. Wow, that's quite a log store! I'm jealous of the amount of wood you have too How deep is it? I was thinking of something to store logs that I've already cut down to 10" odd lengths and split, so I can just go and fill a barrow and bring them up to the house. Yours looks like it's housing cordwood.
  19. I am planning to build a log store to keep my processed wood in before the winter is upon us. I had initially intended to use old (strong) pallets to form a base, with (gappy) pallets forming the back and sides, and a tarp thrown over the top. I'm now contemplating this design but with a sloping felt roof instead. Just to confuse the issue, I'm wondering whether a small portal frame type structure using welded angle sections and box might offer a stronger solution. Any advice would be appreciated. P.s I'll be making it myself.
  20. I too looked at these contraptions for personal use. The bit that put me off was the exorbitant cost and the worry it'd knacker my 18v drill in short order. As a result I went manual and bought a set of locking Bailey rods which so far have only been used to clear a blocked drain. Caused by my other half who thinks grease, food waste and oil are all water soluble!
  21. As the late, great Roy Castle used to say "Reciprocation's what you need.....if you wanna be a Record Breaker!" ...oh wait, no it was dedication
  22. So it's a 461 and some pink trousers. Job jobbed.
  23. So which is better? Husqvarna or Stihl?
  24. Where are you seeing the Stiga at that price? Some Interweb links might be useful in helping us choose.
