  1. Goretex only works in a dry atmosphere. Your body creates heat on the inside, high air pressure, and this easily pushes moisture out into the low pressure dry atmosphere outside. Al Gore designed the fabric for high altitude mountaineering. Here in Britain, the atmosphere is similar inside the jacket to outside. Therefore, a breathable membrane cannot work. It's the same reason that fishermen don't wear breathable wet gear.
  2. However, It is not advertised as waterproof so the 'negative' experiences expressed on here should be disregarded. It is a work smock, not a rain coat.
  3. Did you buy it eventually?
  4. There may still be a good Jensen A540 at Arbrep Services.
  5. I guess no body has one. I find it humorous that British people will spend £250 on a coat to go for a stroll on Bodmin moor but resent paying more than £40 on a coat to climb trees in all day. (Then complain bitterly when the cheap one leaks!). I've never seen any of these Pfanner jackets, that's why I'm asking here. Thanks.
  6. Yes but whilst operating you could be sitting in the boozer wearing a pair of Occulus googles! Brilliant.
  7. That's all Silky Fox does and he hasn't even been replaced by a robot!
  8. That's almost entirely incorrect and you should be ashamed of yourself with this unprofessional attitude. Everyone knows that if it has a TPO or in Conservation Area, 8am on Sunday is the only time to prune them, at knee height! You were only correct about the cash.
  9. Attention anyone thinking of giving Dave Garman some work. Please don't! Then he'll have to return to Surrey and work with us again (cos he's good and we miss him). Hahaha!
  10. Has anyone got one of these and if so: How long have you had it? Are you a climber? Is it still waterproof? Is it tough enough? Thanks. Ventura Rain Jacket - Jackets - Clothing
  11. Yep, he's the luckiest guy I know: Air Force F16 pilot. Test pilot on the F35 project and now chief pilot in the 1st squadron in Arizona. Handsome in a Norwegian way. Regularly flies the 2 seat Spitfire from Goodwood. Stunning wife who sells helicopters. Loads of money. Really nice guy. Tosser! Hahaha!
  12. I need a climber next Wednesday the 23rd near Woking for an Oak dismantle. Very tall, bit of rigging over a shutdown power line. Thanks Al 07834 414271
  13. Here's my friend flying one of them. He just sent me this photo to annoy me! Lol!
  14. I read that too but the existence of the Cypress hedge will inhibit the development of a new Beech hedge.
  15. The leaves are not required to create a wind break. The trunks, branches and shoots aid to disrupt the flow of the wind perfectly. I would fell and stump grind, around pipes etc, then plant Beech.
  16. Spudulike has done it on my 395xp and it's been perfect since.
  17. I saw them but they don't appear to do trousers. Thanks.
  18. Mine is a 450 and I bought it before the 460 was made. The 460 is the just a 450 but with the swivel. I bought it from Arbrep services because I know that their after sales service is perfect. The only issues I've had is a snapped throttle cable and a snapped choke cable. This happened because I was incompetent and didn't lubricate them, like I was told to. Spare parts don't seem to be expensive and the size of the cutter wheel makes it very effective.
  19. Excellent machine and nothing to fault about it. If mine broke id buy another without thinking.
  20. All the colours are foul IMO because I don't like coloured boots but is buy them if they're the comfiest.
  21. Contact Dave110 on here.
  22. Perfect, they have everything I need. Thanks.
  23. I've done some searching and can't find anything so I thought I'd ask here. Do any manufacturers make trousers & jackets that are chainsaw proof as well as fire retardant and anti static? It's a serious question although I know it's a ridiculous notion. To avoid you asking, it is because of 'blinkered' H&S boffins. Thanks Al.
