  1. I bought it from a shop called Poelbosbouw in Holland. Including shipping and tax it cost the same as it will retail for here. Lars Rodrigues was extremely helpful and provided an excellent service, even phoning me on New Years Eve to give tips on how to adjust it. I feel bad not to have waited and bought one from a British retailer but my Petzl was very old and damaged so I was a bit naughty using it for work. It comes with very detailed instructions and it seems important to follow these, which goes against the grain for me. I can't say much about it at the moment as I haven't climbed in it. I don't care what it looks like so I'm not interested in wasted posts about Power Rangers:001_tt2: I'm interested in comfort and safety features and a trawl through the Protos website reveals a startling amount of detail regarding safety features. Anyway, feels really comfy so I like it.
  2. You're all wrong and may be surprised to find that it's a.....
  3. Guess what was waiting for me when I got home today?
  4. Click on this for lanyard info and search for others. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/climbers-talk/46928-lanyard-set-up.html
  5. No the pulley is fine but retie those knots otherwise this will be the last post you ever read.
  6. ....all the fungi that I had been stripped off the dieing trees using a Billhook that I stole from Crazy Cutters back door a few nights ago. The fried fungi was garnished with rocket and ketchup, everyone felt reinvigorated by such a hearty meal. At this point Bolam declared the only reason for breakfast is to line the stomach so he produced a case of Stella and passed it all around. Now things started to get messy and there were concerns for personal safety so Honey Brothers produced free and every Arbtalker in the land was delighted.
  7. 2nd that.
  8. Hee hee. Lets keep it a secret. Don't tell anyone.
  9. Are you sure it was an Ash???
  10. Haha, the second half of that sounds like you wrote it about me! I did a bit of work on a small Yew tree today and thought it would be easier to use DdRT. I completed 50% of the job then switched to SRTWP, I was using my Hitch Hiker so it took 30 seconds to switch. It was a surprise and a relief to discover how much easier it was. I can only surmise that my previous small tree DdRT jobs on the RW and HH were easier because I was still finding my way with Single Rope. Having climbed with a Lockjack for so many years I never expected to become an SRT god overnight but I'm so glad I persevered. This is just my opinion and what works best for me, before anyone starts arguing.
  11. The boxes are viewable on iPhone, iPad or iMac. They are smilies etc.
  12. Good advice👍.
  13. That's where I am too Paul. 2nd day back at work today, feel like hell.
  14. I access with SRT, (I use a very basic gear set up) because it's physically much easier. Once I have my TIP i work with SRTWP because I find it physically easier and on spready trees, especially multi stemmed, the advantage of redirects is immeasurably easier.
  15. Oh, just saw that you said you will be building your own. My bad.
  16. I used these: Solent Body Builders | Commercial Vehicle Body Builders and Repairers, CCTV Cameras and Signage | Accident Repair Service and they were about 60% cheaper than Tipmaster, the product and quality is identical. Speak to Steve and tell him Alasdair sent you and he'll really look after you well.
  17. Yes Morbark have just bought them. I'd see that as a good thing although it won't translate to anything in Britain I suppose.
  18. Exactly. All you need is enough desire.
  19. Also this video of it is worth a view
  20. It's not a Boxer but it solves the problem of transporting all the gear with one truck, as long as your truck and chipper are big! I think it's brilliant so I thought i should share.
  21. Well done to both of you. The first thing I did after the 20wk scan was buy one of those toy Stihl chainsaws.
  22. My ambition for next year is to smile more. Seriously, my circumstances (brought on by my own decisions) have created a lot of stress for me. I never used to believe in stress and was a very good manager of my own emotions, now I have a permanent scowl and I'm concerned about the example I set for my young children. I need to reassert a positive mental frame for myself and be less uptight, I feel like a coiled spring and I know I can get back my softer side. In the mean time, I'm going out now to get hammered so that I'll be in a really bad mood tomorrow. Confused? Yes I am. Good luck everyone and keep safe.
