  1. Yes i hope so, always fancied doing a jump and when i saw this thread i thought why not. Gonna get signed up next week unless theres some radical terms and conditions. Do you fancy it then Hama ?
  2. Thanks for the reply Alycidon.
  3. So will i (scratch my back i will do the same) Hint Hint ! Surprised not more arbtalkers have said they will be there.

  5. The firm i work for removed said stump Wednesday, a couple of hours with a greenmech grinder and no damage to either wall. Happy ending.
  6. Hi all, I having a nightmare at the moment trying to get the right info about my proposed flue and wondered if someone could put me right. I live in a timberframed house built 5 years ago, can i run twin-skin stainless flue pipe through the timber framed wall at 45 degrees keeping all timber, plasterboard and rockwall etc at least 50mm away from pipe. One hetas guy says yes and the other (which i like better) has said the twin wall needs to run through a concrete sleeve set into the wall which means building a wall up against the plasterboard inside my living room to support the lower end of this sleeve with the other end set into the out concrete block skin of the house ?
  7. Hi Danu, Welcome to Arbtalk, its good that a non arb has come here to ask a question like this as the average member of the public would not know what these terms mean. Please dont take any notice of the coments of AHPP, the only way us arb's are going to move our industry on in the uk is educating the public at large on modern arboricultural best practice and british standards. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.
  8. Needs a bit of manscaping done.
  9. Is it lime.
  10. Depends on what they have been spraying, the farm should'nt be cleaning out their sprayers there anyway. The washings should be sprayed out back onto the area they have just treated.
  11. The dry side ? Chainsaw waders next time me think.
  12. Nice one pal, I did mine earlier in the year, nice to take another step up the ladder. I'd recommend it to anyone who has been considering it.
  13. HI, Check the small print of the poilcy, a couple of years back mine changed and said it was only insured overnight in a brick built building with a fire sprinkler system fitted and was not insured if unattended while working (if you were in a back garden and the chipper was round the front) so i didnt bother insuring it and brought top wheel clamp and hitch lock with the money. Clamp goes on at every job, quality chain and padlock goes through the A frame while were working and the hitch lock at night while its in the timber shed where i keep it.
  14. Hi there, The stub thats left as it is would be good habitat but the customer would probably like a nice tidy cut on it. If so, remove the stub back to a suitable postion and see if there is any decay at that point. If there is any sort of decay there i bet it is minor anyway, if you find anything that is of concern i'd recommend to the customer a 20% reduction of the remaining crown. Remember that cavity has not been there 5 minutes so the tree was able to support that limb that has fallen for quite a while so don't think that if there is a little decay at the base of that limb that the rest the tree is going to fail straight away. Their alot tougher than we think !
  15. When i lived down there i used Renteq, price was about the same as everyone else but they always turned up when they said they would. The LA may want to know about a 4 way if its in a busy place ?
  16. Yep, the same here got tree news this morning.
  17. Has anyone ever thought why we don't get red petrol like we get red diesel. Think how much we put through our saws throughout their lifetime. Not a drop of it has seen a highway.
  18. I believe water companies etc are tacho exempt so thats why your landie didnt have one. I brought an ex electric company 10 ton iveco and that didnt have a tacho in it. You may need to tacho for what your doing now though, depends on what you are doing and how far you travel away from your home base.
  19. yer and i had to ride my bike sometimes !
  20. Is that near Snodland, i went to primary school there.
  21. When i lived in London used to have cubs come up to my patio door and look in at me while i watched tv.
  22. If your only going to be out for 3 - 6 months, i'd revise for the ISA cert arborist exam and sit it in the Autumn, unless its going to turn into a longer learn curve then do as Janey says.
  23. I'd agree 100% , What year is it ?
  24. You will always get these type of people working in every trade. The average householder will only employ an arb 2 or 3 times in their life and sadly alot of people just look at price and not the quality and experience that some of us can offer. Times are changing though !
  25. Try Gristwood and Toms, they have got the contract in Bexley so just down the road from you.
