  1. If I can I use a winch near enough opposite to the lean and tension it up. Then put the Tree surgeon sink in about 50cm from the ground. Bore out, big hinge, high lift wedges, sledge hammer. Lift and tension.
  2. I did mine at Facelift. Not sure if there is a depot near you, check on T' net.
  3. I used to ride my motocross bike around the back of our yard when finished early. One morning the boss was late so I thought I would go for a burn but was out of 2 stroke, chainsaw mix was different, so I put the bike away. I took it out later on to find one of the old Oaks had fallen the LENGTH of the track I had been riding the day before. Did my crosser save my life by refusing to start? Arthur C. Clark.
  4. Good call. What with cut backs how much money do you reckon the LA has to throw at this? If it will create an eyesore for the village maybe the owner should contact the local rag? Sounds like a newbie tree officer going by the book to me, no offence tree officer types:001_tt2:
  5. The ancient pollards that are left today were worth more than money when they were worked. They helped build an empire. Woodlands and forests in Tudor times were like the timber section at Wickes. You chose the right shape and size for what you wanted to use it for. I don't think it was anything romantic, just business because timber was expensive. Good business's look after their staff. That's what the old woodsman was skilled at.
  6. Funny watching vid's like this. You come across a big drop off or a fast downhill and you have it. But the older you get the more it hurts when it goes tits up!
  7. I wonder how many problems they have with rogue tree topper loppers who don't have to wait?
  8. Man. Sounds like you have seen nirvana. Are you the Highlander? I can kind of understand you. The more you learn about tree's and the industry the more your eye's are opened.
  9. How long is your shoe lace and what is it's SWL it could be an option!
  10. Volunteering is all very well when it comes to charities, or helping a mate out when he's up against it. When everyone wants to work for free it undervalues the position. If you are earning someone money you should be paid. I hope Honey Brothers and the like aren't advertising their sites for nowt? If they do then Steve is an exceptionaly Xlarge class A free range egg:thumbup1: And good on you Steve for starting this site!
  11. I think that's a fair price for a labourer. I don't know many professional groundsmen with their own saw and cleaning up kit!
  12. Shame they can't do their job as well when it comes to child protection!
  13. This is where I find a large set of steps and a pole saw come in dead handy.
  14. Shame on the guy poaching. Everybody would and does look after their own every day. I was saying there are ways and means.
  15. Shame on the guy poaching. Everybody would and does look after their own every day. I was saying there are ways and means.
  16. You don't operate sly like that if you've got any pride! So it's alright to leave someone else without a roof over their head and a starving family? If twas me and somebody was trying to take the money off of my table like that I'd be seeing him down his local on a friday for a quiet word. Shame on YOU, shame on YOU.
  17. I fill out my applications when I have got the job.
