1. How you guys get those prices is beyond me. All around me and there are dozens, all professionals not one hit wonders, with all latest kit etc are selling 1.5 loads at £80-100 The odd one £90 a bag. But he will sit on one artic load all winter and when it's gone it's gone.. All depends how you put your labour into equation. When we did lot tree work the lads would split till 5 after tree jobs. That to me was free labour for 2-3 men for couple hours every day as if they had no logs would go home with same pay. Lot farmers do firewood to keep their workers busy in winter spring etc as do we. We have to pay them regardless and although they would be doing something not always case that it would earn us anything or benefit us. Just finding them things to do for sake it basically.
2. Seen him on estate where I go. Both times been there he was broke down.. Pipes on crane I think. Head forester said its a regular occurrence. Bet that volvo goes well with no limiter. Mines been tweaked!!!
3. Small amount poplar and willow. Majority is softwood. Tend to mention poplar and willow cos it's hard not softwood
4. Can do you bulker load mixed softwood, poplar willow etc. small amount hardwood. £800 load delivered 25-28 ton
5. 56 plate transit I only use few months of year for log delivery 95000 02 plate transit for tree work 240000 still original engine and box. T reg land cruiser 102000 (had done 50k when bought it just over yr ago) Just bought another tractor unit.. Volvo fh16 1997 1450000 Kms.goes like rocket.
6. it is getting beyond a joke. neary half the turn over per lorry is fuel only..
7. it is... to 600hp!! have 3 now they only average 6-7 between them.. £4500 a week!!!
8. it will be a 26 ton load I deliver on my timber trailer, just split and reloaded on bulker.. the trailer would be about 26 cube full cord but wont be full as its beech. wood is cut to 2.5m lengths. rear bay is half full the other 3 full to top. if burch ash etc would be 4 bays full to brim for 25 ton
9. don't think 5 miles will make too much diff at 6 to gallon..
10. quite away past preston!!! ill work price out
11. no exactly where you are mate. got your postcode off your web site.
12. delivery in bulker would be less than timber trailer as can get load back from Manchester.... we run to preston quite often
13. can do you a 26 ton load split beech delivered in bulker
14. Let me no where it's going from and to and I'll give you quote..
15. I been delivering artic bulker loads mixed soft wood arb waste that is destined for bonfire in yard. Had good response from everyone I told about it. Woods free. Just charge for hour it takes to load it and haulage..
16. Sorry mate to busy on other lorry work (bulker, hay, straw etc) for foreseeable future.
17. Beech. Birch, alder Oak, ash. What I'm saying is there's not enough money in moving it. Can have nice easy day sat in lorry with bulker on back and earn same or more with no hassle, no getting wet or cold sat on crane and no smashing your lorry to bits trying to get in gateways that estate or woodland owners put in with never Haven driven a lorry so no idea how much room is needed to back in.. Can only usually load one way whereas bulker is full all time..
18. Plenty cordwood around at £40 ton.. That's the easy bit. Haulage is what cost and most don't wanna pay enough to make it worth while
19. Could do you some good ash and birch mix. Would need to be a 3 cubic metre load to make it worth while..
20. His post is 3 yrs old.
21. Can collect a bulker load no probs if you give me a price.
22. Quite a bit. But why would you want hardwood. We heat 4 houses with a solid wood boiler run on softwood. Now when it gets cold like few weeks ago around 0 degrees I did few experiments. Fill to brim at 8 pm with mixed softwood.. At 7am burnt out pretty much..fill again for rest day.. Houses all have plenty hot water and water temp stays where it should. Next nite. Fill to brim with very dry mixed hardwood, mainly beech and 5 yr old oak that's been under cover. Next morning 7am. Pretty much burnt out.. So no diff at all. The water temp may have been slightly higher in boiler but makes no odds as long as its above the min required to produce enough heat for the houses that's all that matters.. Which it is with soft wood. Not sure what out come will be when it hits minus 12 like it has here at times last couple yrs. But that's only for few weeks yr so bit nice dry hardwood in reserve won't hurt.. And to be honest I'd say there would be well over 10% hardwood mixed in with the softwood that I would provide you.. We pull that out and put it to one side for when it gets cold with our burner
23. Softwood.. All wood that I can get for nothing. Have so much of it we collected for our own boiler that we are now burning it in yard to get rid. Can cut and split a artic bulker load in a good day with 2-3 men.. The bulker we have are around 55-65 cube. Would heap it right up and not worry about pulling easy sheet over... We run in that direction with grain or animal feed at around £400 load and load. back for around £300. So to me its bloody good earner.. Getting on for 2 grand for day out in lorry.. Less running costs diesel obviously. Would clear £1300 profit easy.. Now question is can the op get hold of and split that softwood for £1800. I doubt it.. And 80% mine would be well seasoned and under cover
24. Load processed softwood approx 60 cubic metres £1800 delivered on artic bulker
25.
Ah. That was week, ago just looked..
