  1. i beg to differ ! we don't use the normal LR aftermarket suppliers we have a different source and when fitted and the engine correctly tuned with the use of an accurate boost gauge and an Exhaust Gas Temperature sensor so that the fueling and air can be set to the correct setting the gains can be quite good over standard the lower end torque and the overall performance ! the next step is to go with a VNT turbo conversion these make the most difference when used with the above we run a 130 300tdi with this setup and it regularly goes full weight and tows off road too and the difference is quite dramatic mainly you first drive one with a VNT on it and you think where is the turbo lag~? there is none but the advantage is that you have boost form very low revs and therefore torque ! tuned correctly there are great we have re-tune other 300s that have had other kits fitted without the addition of EGT and bigger inter coolers etc and when people tweek pumps without knowing the temperature at t he exhaust or just post turbo you can run the risk of serious harm and its easy to over tune ! Jon yes bigger inter cooler is a good upgrade you will need to adjust the fueling to get best out of it and also a small tweek in boost pressure
  2. Its usually a build up of dust drying out any lube in the linkage as jons is a 300 tdi it maybe the cable fraying either end as the cable goes from lever to drum on theses and Td5s always worth stripping the drum off and strip down the adjusters and mech good lube with some grease or copper slip ! used to see this all the time when looking after a fleet of LR products used on wet chalky areas ! The X brake is good but not cheep ! a properly maintained and adjusted drum brake works fine Jon might be worth checking your rear calipers are not binding ? or a tight uj
  3. Er well i kinda live in the middle of the largest arable region in england ! and the number of Ploughs being used around here alot are still in furrow models and ill still maintain that a good plough in good condition set correctly will no need to use sway chains as it will follow properly but hey i know nothing ! in factmost modern tractors if not all of them the sway bars as they are usually now unlock automaticaly when the linkage drops to a preset adjustable point ! Difflock the slotted top link hole is used on tractors with lower link draft sensing rather than toplink draft sensing where the ptoling has to be ridged to alow it to operate the draft sensing linkage
  4. lol try it on my mobile connection ! even when i refresh it doesent sometimes !
  5. im sorry your not total right here on modern machinery yes wheel widths are for row crop work but depending on tyre width furrow width and the setup and number of furrows on the plough etc the wheel centre widths are important in the manual for 99% of ploughs it will give the optimum centres for the combination of furrow width tyre size etc if your using the chains no the link arms to adjust the furrow width the plough is not set correctly ! the chains are there to stop machines swinging to far one way or the other thats why they are called SWAY chains. a correctly setup plough and tractor the plough should pull dead centre of the prime mover this is all to do with how the plough and tractor is setup ! i should know i used to plough 1000 acres a year ! also very good friend is a very good match ploughman and he has been to the nationals to compete several times and i spent hours with him setting the plough and tractor up ! Ag tyres are designed to provide maximum traction in the given direction that you see them on tractors in normal use ! alot of contractors used to reverse the fronts so they were backwards to try and extend there life when doing alot of road work to counter act the camber of roads when grain carting or forge carting. i have bee stuck on a number of occasions and i can tell you its easier in most cases to come out the wayyou went in ! oh and to add to the discussion brand new tyres are not as good for traction as part worns when ploughing ! And yes hanging the winch on the front of the tractor will work due to the weight bias of the engine front axle and everything else infront of the back axle which is the turning point on the setup why do we have long tractors or put front weights on them when we have large heavy kit on the 3pt linkage?
  6. upstairs first floor must be 25 steps up from outside was dark outside and the front door was in the corner of a courtyard type affair on the farm i came outside and left the door open to let the dog in and then this little bugger got spooked and ran towards the corner up the step and off up the stairs round the corner into the hall he had a choice of left right or straight on luckly he went left through kitchen down into the bathroom and iinto the bog ! right would have been the froont room and straighton was me bedrooms ! was a screwed up 20 minutes i can tell you !
  7. i can tell you i wasnt the most pleased to have to do it ! and i know what there like have you ever seen the damage they do to lambs?
  8. on a tipper and using box i wouldnt want to charge more than £450 for that maybe less !
  9. ouch ! seen the damage foragers have had through injesting themselves ! guessing it was a write off?
  10. Saab 93 travelling in opposite direction to me ! both around 30mph trailer jumoed the hitch not down to wear mark or ball undersized ! on my side of the road there was some severe frost damage to the road surface the trailer was empty it bounced hard in the potholes and jumped the hitch ! trailer brakes cane on fast but the road surface caused the trailer to skip into the oncoming carraige way ! not a plesant couple of hours with me and the plod etc but end of day no one was hurt just shaken up and metal is replaceable. Plod intervied me under caution etc and came back and said they had done full investigation and oout it down to freek incident and road surface !
  11. well i had to get the little bugger out of there ! removal involved an aluminium hover tube a length of blue nylon three strand and some niffty poking wiggling and trying to stop the jack russel having ago ! !!
  12. just got this back from will ! Home - Clive Lamb, decent chap, it was £110 delivered I think

  17. well thats nearly me dinner back up again !
  18. seen many fail when taken somewhere that the tester either hates them or doesent know them ! we use guys who know the vehicles they may advise more stuff but they know there stuff ! Oh and i have spent far far far to many hours chassing rust on land rovers to even try and count them !
  19. fit the correct suspension etc for a 3500kg 110 and get the revenue weight changed on the logbook and get the weight plate stamped ! its all doable and above board !
  20. don't forget on both 5 and 7 seaters two seat belt mounting points are through the floor ! Its all down to the mot tester and his knowledge of the vehicle being tested !
  21. if there is a hole or excessive corrosion within 12 inches of a body mount or a seat belt mount then it should be a fail likewise with any safety critical area (bulkheads on rotting near master cylinders etc)
  22. not where it was and to tell the truth that was a bastard to get them on on that machine !at one point it sliped onto the wrong side of the ider lol!
