  1. Morrells Tung Oil | For A Pure Tung Oil Finish
  2. why not just buy tung oil?
  3. I'd like to plant some elms down here, where can I get these hybrid or disease resistant elms?
  4. the big 150 is a superb tool, and I'd certainly try to get one but theyre wanting nearly 30k for it!
  5. indeed got a few of those here, not worth much over firewood, you'll do well to get over 1mtr lengths with that spiral.
  6. possibly we tend to do larger timbers, mainly oak and ash, but did some douglas too. we bought some new and stellite tipped blades which also cracked up, spoke to a few others who had similar problems and basically came to the conclusion that if the blades hadn't been prone to cracking then trekker would have put woodmizer out of business as if they'd have worked well then with a bed extension and non cracking blades I could have sawn well over 200-300 cube a day. cheers for the tom sawyer tip off i'll check it out...
  7. i think they're a superb idea we ran a borrowed one for about 6 months but never got over the cracked gullets I'd replace the pulleys with bigger ones, but tbh by the time you've done the mods I thought I'd be better with a tom sawyer or similar as I'm after a permanent set up, when working they do do the job, especially in larger hardwoods which is what I specialise in.
  8. no its in Bromsgrove, worcs, at avoncroft open air museum but I've done a few in Norfolk too before I was tied up with kids and wife!
  9. heres another project we did some big bits of timber!
  10. get the timber as dry as possible that keeps it all tight, I air dried it a summer an inch then kilned it down below 10% max.
  11. here you go did some of mine 5 years ago now and still very tight I used all oak as I was struggling to get ash in 6" dry boards that was not streaked with olive, if any one has any large ash butts local to Worcester I'd be interested....
  12. probably best as firewood, too short/ small dia. for bothering to mill
  13. come see me, pensax about 12 miles away... 01299 890128
  14. he's stourport area but will travel
  15. you tried sommerscales at keelby?
  16. something like that would do well, I was looking at the tom sawyer as its uk built so parts wouldn't be so tricky, also the head wheels etc are a known quantity. but as a a fall back provided importing something like this wouldn't cost the earth? sound like theres some decent mills out by you in Croatia?
  17. try osmo oil, used it on our solid oak stairs I made very nice....
  18. got some oak, 1" up to 6" air dry up to 10 years....
  19. whats the access like? and have you a close up of the cut end, fast/ slow grown?
  20. +1 had two both pretty much useless and gone now, neither really wanting to work, but wanted the money but no end goal, effort put in or enthusiasm.... it seems very common, and quite sad....
  21. yes that's within our buget easily, though I'm not worried about road towable, its going on a foundation in a shed.
  22. heres one scott seargent had a few years back on youtube....
  23. ideally I'd like as big as possible but large enough to say through saw a 1.2 meter diameter butt which we regularly get, we are building a new shed for it so up to 10-12 meters? I do occasionally have to mill 30 foot so if its just putting some rails comcrete yard in thats fine. buget is flexible but depends on what you'd get, I know I could get a stenner band rack for what I'm willing to spend/ put in but don't want one, we've loaders and telehandlers for loading / unloading I liked the tom sawyer features (I hired one a couple of times) ie accurate, wide blade, run as long as the rails, log stays static just run through etc...
