  1. Yes, and the computer said no!
  2. As the title suggests, a friend of mine needs some firewood delivered, anyone on here cover Surrey? Thanks Phil
  3. I had a 16 year old with me for a bit of work experience last week and he turned up with what he called a 'man bag'!! Basically, a hand bag with Addidas written on it. I was laughing all day at that one
  4. I hope you've got naughty exhausts on it! I used to have one with race cans on...sounded awsome!! Till I hit a bus
  5. The last piece I cut fell apart and did indeed have white mycelial sheets separating the sections.
  6. And here's another one, courtesy of the storm. Robinia pseudoacacia 'Frisia'. Started to go over and seems to have had a problem with Armillaria. Have seen four of these in the last few days that have gone over in the wind. Anyone any idea why they are so susceptible?
  7. Thought someone might like a look at this. A just about dead Cherry I cut down today with what looks like a Ganoderma of some description at the base. Main stem was hollow most of the way up (full of decomposed tree). Wasn't sure that I should have climbed it when I saw this!
  8. Cheers Al, I believe we share the same groundy occasionally, Old Man Darren?
  9. Thanks Tony, and that's why I always check on here!!
  10. Just a quicky, looks like Grifola frondosa to me, but would be grateful if someone could confirm? It's growing at the base of an Oak tree. Thanks Phil
  11. Might be a good idea to tell everyone what species the tree is and where you live
  12. Bloody hell it's a bit windy!! Supposed to be cutting a big dead Cedar down today... might change my mind when I get to site!
  13. No problem would be a shame to fell it, just a heavy reduction/pollard. Will still give me lots of firewood
  14. Might have to do a bit of a reduction on this Ash as it is leaning over a cross country course for horsey people! Mind you, a few less of them wouldn't be such a bad thing! Do you think that the fungus is decaying wood associated with the dead branch or will it be getting into the sound wood of the tree as well?
  15. I think he's in France!
  16. Found this on an Ash today, Inonotus hispidus I think? Looking closely at the upper side of the bracket, there seems to be some claw marks! Also, anyone know what the cobweb like stuff underneath is? (Or is it just a cobweb?!) Cheers....Phil
  17. Thank you for stepping in, fungi id is a bit of a weak spot for me! Not good news for the tree then, especially with the Armillaria?
  18. Time for a spot of muc-off I think? or are you as bad as me at cleaning bikes!!
  19. Enough of bikes with knobbly bits on the tyres, back to proper bikes Here's mine on a trip to Wales this summer. Just bought the speed Triple this year and loving it!
  20. Might be able to manage a whole pint on my own! Can't drink like I used to!!
  21. Are you offering to supply the booze???
  22. Ditto for me
  23. Thanks for the reply, what leads you to think P. fraxinea as it looks nothing like the photos in the directory?
  24. Hi David, just wondering how you tension up the bracing? I've used Cobra bracing and use ratchet straps to pull the limbs being braced in, but I guess this isn't practical with the split lower down? Cheers...Phil
  25. I've had a look through my book and the directory on here, but can't find this one. Looks a bit Ganoderma-ish to me, but not sure. Other photo shows what looks like Armillaria boot laces... what do you think? Tree is a Robinia psuedoacaia 'Frisia'. Cheers...Phil
