  1. I definitely would, imagine if you had not said anything and the tree had come down and killed someone! be hard to live with that. Might have ended up giving the snotty kid a cuff round the ear though!
  2. I s@*t myself today. Not because of a dodgy tree, but because of a dodgy meal the night before, thought I would just squeeze out a little excess gas and got more than I bargained for! Been feeling crap (literally) all day!!
  3. I relented yesterday and sparked up the log burner! Only have a small house so light it up for a couple of hours job done. Still tight with my log use though, never seem to have the time to split a decent enough load of logs!! Definitely get log pile envy when seeing some of the log stores of guys on here
  4. Apparently someone 'in the know' had told him that bracket fungus was bad for a tree. But main reason is the usual...wants more light!
  5. I did wonder if the gardener had been banging the lawn mower into it! Apparently he's getting on a bit, had a go at pruning the apple, not great! I'll give the cardboard a go too, cheers.
  6. If you want a plant that bees love, try putting in some Echinops, they go mad for them!
  7. Thanks for the advice Alec, I pruned it in the summer which is when I first noticed it. Going back in Feb to mulch, thought it would be ok to remove the grass while the tree is dormant. Will definitely be keeping the tree if half does go.
  8. Have you had a look on the AA's website? I think they have some, failing that, try a google search
  9. It's a lovely tree, quite old, but customer wants it out
  10. I have a client with an apple that takes pride of place on his lawn. I noticed earlier this year that half the tree had a thin canopy and small leaves. There is some damage to the bark at the base on the same side that the leaves are thin. Any ideas anyone? I've recommended that the grass is removed under the tree and a mulch put down and add some mycorrhizal fungi, not sure what else can be done?
  11. Found this growing on an apple yesterday, is it Inonotus Hispidus?
  12. As the title suggests, I need a groundsman for Saturday 7th September in Kingston Upon Thames. Will probably lead to more work as I'm busy. PM me your details including experience and rates. Cheers Phil
  13. If they will let you pollard the trees, isn't that problem solved?
  14. Love that
  15. Thanks for the advice guys, I think I'll keep up the pressure for now and make it clear that court looms if they don't pay. They are a professional couple, so threat of a CCJ might do the job. Phil
  16. Thanks for this, could come in handy
  17. It seems no one has gone down the route of small claims court then!
  18. I tried the Trojan.....
  19. Cheers, keep my fingers crossed! And a 76k VAT bill!!!!! Holy crap, your face must have been a picture when you opened that letter!
  20. Customer is well aware that I am awaiting payment. And we are talking thousands not a few hundred.
  21. .....
  22. Travelling folk
  23. Then what's the point in proper pruning cuts? Have the ****** got it right after all??
  24. Can I borrow 8 tonnes of shite of you please?
  25. Doesn't leaving a long stub provide a food source for a pathogen to use as fuel while it attacks the trees defences?
