  1. Probably the more knowledgeable ones! :-)
  2. The customer will always feel 'done' if you sell on their tree. We can't have it all ways. I suspect many jobs lost on this factor.
  3. Tell that to the dealers selling unprocessed cord @£40 a tonne!
  4. Silt may dull chain when cutting.
  5. I converted an old propagating house into shed and workshop. Got the stove in, WiFi and a great sound system. I'm happy at work. Dave
  6. Great advice. Thanks.
  7. Sounds perfect for me then! Dave
  8. I'm looking at a Husqvana mulching mower. Limited choice through my local guy but need to support our we'll lose him. Dave
  9. Today's paper. ' Analysts at Citigroup, America’s third-largest lender, have said that if Scotland was deprived of a formal currency union, it would qualify for only a single-A credit rating — two notches lower than the “gold-plated” grade given to the UK by S&P. Other countries with a single-A rating include Botswana and Trinidad & Tobago.'
  10. So in the last 22 years even with oil and gas taxes counted as 'scottish' we still got £15 BILLION more than we put in. Dave
  11. Again the facts are being smudged. ' Over the years, this public spending premium has pretty much made up for Scotland not getting the lion’s share of oil and gas revenues, according to*Professor Brian Ashcroft*of the University of Strathclyde. He looked at tax receipts and spending from 1980 to 2012. Over 32 years, Scotland had paid in £1,425bn in tax receipts, including a geographic share of oil revenues. Public spending in and for Scotland was £15bn more at £1,440bn.' Source channel 4 Fact Check http://blogs.channel4.com/factcheck/factcheck-oil-debt-decide-scotlands-future/15852 Dave
  12. Vat @5% surely? Dave
  13. Just store it well! Does tend to absorb rain, leaks etc quickly.
  14. Funny how things work out. People will always be surprised that managing a woodland involves cutting down trees! Dave
  15. I'm having a good read of this study. http://www.usewoodfuel.co.uk/media/409865/attachment159__1_.pdf Lots of great info on prices of wood per tonne etc etc. Could be useful in my continuous cover forestry. Dave
  16. Another salesman talking it up! If you read this forum you could get quotes from experts that logs dry in 6 weeks, that dumpy bags are a cube and videos showing great felling techniques (you know ones!) Dave
  17. I'm 19 stone. Run a half marathon in 1.45, do a ten mile time trial in 24 minutes and if something needs moving I generally lift it up. It's enough. Dave

  20. No lender of last resort in Salmond's plans add it stands.
  21. We support our sickest citizens with expensive hospital care and treatment. We don't throw them out when they cost too much. Salmond also promised bbc shows would remain. That's been pointed out to be wrong today as well. Scotland would have to buy them and pay the currency fees to do so. 'you'll never take my Dr who! ! ' Dave
  22. I gather folk, shooters normally, with night vision gear can find the infrared cameras at night.
  23. It's great we're having a discussion without being jumped on. SNP supporters can be absolutely fanatical in person and on forums. My sister's getting married this summer here in Scotland. I won't be wearing my kilt. I feel the SNP has taken taken that symbol and used it against us. Dave
  24. Always good to see a sense of humor!
  25. Folk pay tax on minimum wage as well.
