  1. Always a confusing area. Read often of folk running splitters off a pto pump at tick over. I'm trying to get a clear picture because running my Ford 4000 at tick over fine but running it at 1800rpm+ for a day very expensive on fuel. Dave
  2. Great site. With the video customers may question how well a big pile of logs actually seasons and may expect moisture meter in the middle of a fresh split not the end of unsplit. Dave
  3. Name and shame.
  4. Hmm this defies good business sense. There must be a reason. Dave
  5. And no inheritance tax either! Dave
  6. £3950 per annum.
  7. Folk always happy to see wood back in work. Don't worry about it being a hassle! I supply wood to a local museum for their construction projects and they mill it imperial to continue the buildings history. It's a bit awkward to shift wood around but I'm proud it's seeing a museum keep its traditional building heritage alive. Dave
  8. I just wonder if pump at fault? Over heating & over pressure? Dave
  9. This is making me think. Hoses should be easy to get right and pto pump getting warm? Will await outcome before deciding. Dave
  10. Anyone tried one of their machines? Very reasonable prices. http://croftermachinery.co.uk/products/the-contractor-18 Dave
  11. I planted my orchard 6 years ago and love it. I'm adding to it this winter. I use the orchard as part of my grazing rotation for my sheep and the ewes have a taste for apple leaves! I need to up my protection from wire cages to maybe a three way staked and boarded individual enclosure. Any other options I've missed? Thanks, Dave
  12. Less than 500kg. Dave
  13. It's summer here in Argyll! Been working in sun out of wind. Fab. Dave
  14. Anyone got any experience of location fees and appearance fees? Dave
  15. Heard about this happening near an airport. Rac/aa would just move cars a 100m then sorted. Dave
  16. That's great Jim. I want it on tractor for stability and moving but prefer wee petrol over tractor ticking over. Will be in touch! Dave
  17. I'm pretty sure I'm going Riko over Thor and think petrol motor rather than pto driven. However there's a problem. I would like to transport on the three point linkage and use there for stability. Soft ground abounds here and I'd rather split in situ and can imagine if not on linkage it will tip. But there's no vertical version of petrol motor with linkage, it'd have to be a horizontal. That's not the best. Maybe I should go pto and electric. Only reason not to use pto is to look after tractor and to avoid safety issues of pto. Any experience that can help me decide? Ta Dave
  18. I was under the impression in order to qualify for rhi payments the powers are introducing the rule you must buy from registered supplier. No home production allowed but maybe you could become a registered supplier? ! Dave
  19. Now I'm surprised folk think ok to charge self employed or otherwise for kit. My kit is my responsibility. If I give permission to some one else to use I do it accepting I am still responsible for any damage. Just me? Dave
  20. Network rail in mid Argyll? No trains here. Will keep my eyes open. Dave Edit- see you're in Oban from profile.
  21. Oops. Post in error. Dave
  22. Thanks. Got it visualised now. Think you've all just made my life easier and saved me money at the same time. Thanks! Dave
  23. Great advice and glad you're rating Cladco. Think membrane the way to go. Just need to get my head around fixing membrane add you describe. Would you use plain sheeting above and board below or can membrane just be pulled tight? Sorry if I'm a bit slow to visualize. Dave
  24. Thanks guys. I'll look into the foam backed stuff. Dave
  25. Need to get roof on the workshop and I'm looking at this. http://www.cladco.uk.com/NoConDrop.html It needs ventilation which I can build in. Big question is does it stop drips? Any experience out there? Thanks, Dave
