  1. Very simple rescue if ground anchor has spare line through a locked lowering device. Dave
  2. Glad to see this being trialled. http://www.usewoodfuel.co.uk/news,-events-woodfuel-forums/news/first-woodlot-license-in-scotland.aspx Dave
  3. Raised off ground. Tin roof. Holds 27m3. Use half a year. Does take two years to season as stacked tightly. Dave
  4. That's one seriously overloaded trailer!
  5. I'm using TP link unmanaged switches. Think I'll shove another in the shed to run a couple of IP cameras to. Weather terrible so roof running late! ! Ta, Dave
  6. Thanks N, Very helpful. I ran an armoured cat5e out and it's a gigabit network so sounds doable! Will try streaming large fire when set up before buying player. Thanks, Dave
  7. Not sure the brand of turbo but it's fluid filled and not connected to a pc. She gets her data via a Garmin speed/cadence sensor. Dave
  8. Wouldn't you know it the missus wants to use the shed I'm finishing for her triathlon bike turbo training. She wants a hd projector onto a screen. I've a network cable in the shed and do most of our films off a NAS running plex. I'm tempted to dive in a Samsung smart Blu-ray player, sound bar and woofer. I can install plex on the Blu-ray, use iPlayer etc. Have I missed an easier solution? I was going to be roofing shed today but it's blowing! Dave
  9. Chestnuts! Not tried anything else. Dave
  10. Jura Mountains, France. Dave

    Great trip

Sat in a cafe in the Jura mountains in France. Wood fuel massive in area. Lots of stacks of billets. Great morning chatting with guys at local saw mill and at agri machinery dealer. The local tractors are great fun. Tomorrow I'm running in the village's annual hill race, problem is the hill is more of a mountain! ! Dave
  13. Thanks guys. Will take on board and let you know how I get on. Dave
  14. Looking at the jobs here mine seems tiny! Still it's my first concrete job, hampered by lack off any knowledge or experience! Floor is 6m x 4m. Needs to hold the tractor up on stands and also be smooth for kids uses. Planning on 5 inch depth and unsure if needs rebar. Plan to just fill would leave me no boards to use to level or could I just fill and float? Added complication can't get concrete truck closer than .5 mile away so need to bring in by dumper I guess. Also thinking what can I set in concrete for secure anchors. As I'm a beginner I'm asking for your top tips please! Dave
  15. Thought you needed license to dig ditches? I got told off for not having license to place spoil from ditches I was maintaining back on field. Think the young guy was giving me grief because I was giving him grief about his civil servant produce nothing charge the earth attitude. I was digging a ditch and why my taxes needed to pay for him to roll up and question an agriculture activity centuries old I have no idea. Dave
  16. West coast tool hire Oban did have one. Dave
  17. Cheers. I've passed it along. I'm looking forward to more time on the ground at home! Dave
  18. The Crinan Canal borders me. All the trees in the pic are ours. Dave
  19. No word of needing to get logs from certified supplier? Dave
  20. Sadly European bees don't have that instinct. Hence the large losses of colonies from Asian hornets as the hornets advance up through France. Dave
  21. Depends if products you're selling are from your smallholding. Farm gate sales are fine for your produce but bring in wood to process and you're industrial and need change of use. Process wood from own land and it's agriculture. Dave
  22. I'm getting video blocked for copyright reasons. Dave
  23. 50 to 75 kg often quoted.
  24. Calling 22% wet a bit harsh. I struggle to get my hardwood to that with two years drying here in the west of Scotland. The drier the wood the better the stove has to be. 16% wasted fuel on a leaky Chinese import stove. When asked about stoves I try and encourage folk to buy a quality stove first and foremost. Biggest way to save log bills during the stoves life. My WoodWarm runs beautifully on my two year dried wood. Yes it would run equally beautifully on 16% but it's not necessary. Not hard to argue the need for dry wood but let's not start calling 22% wet. Dave
