  1. Cheers medeers! Im not chomping at the bit to get it in a rush, as I said Im not really feeling me shooting at the mo but if you could keep your ear out it would be grand
  2. My second uneducated guess would be Pyrus communis (Beech hill)
  3. It looks like a Manchurian pear (Pyrus ussuriensis) Im normally wrong but worth a shot
  4. If any of you know of or have got a .270 WSM for sale PM me, I've got it on my ticket but not found the right one at the right money yet
  5. I've got a small query! What is the correct procedure for tuning the idle and full throttle on a top handle? Im assuming that you would at least have to have the saw running and the chain brake off, would you have to be harnessed into a tree ? Also not sure wheather you might have to have a second climber with you to turn the screws while you rev the saw holding it with both hands and a third on the ground incase theres an accident. What Im getting at and Im (only being light hearted about the whole thing) is that the most dangerous things I've seen done with top handles has been by people on the ground that are trying to find or fix a fault. Remember Im only being light hearted about it
  6. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3o0ExGXfs2o]YouTube - Don't worry be happy - Bobby Mc Ferrin | Smiley edition![/ame]Thought this might make you smile Rob
  7. Your bang on the money and the insperation I need The next silly duffer that swallows the bait, im going to tell them their gutter is full and charge them for that to
  8. Then convince them that they could get their money back 3 fold by selling the chip and logs
  9. Hi what van and chipper do you run with ?
  10. Hi Rob! did you buy any chance ask them who's responsible for checking if a tree has a tpo or is in a tca before any work is carried out ie land owner company or climber ?.
  11. Got to look at a job this week that I priced 4 years ago. Just because you have'nt heard doesnt mean you aint got the jobs, with things as they are it might take a while for them to get back, they probably thought they'd get the best price if they asked now when they know the trade is quiet, then ring you later on in the year when everybodys busy and want it done within the week:001_rolleyes: . Dont worry it will pickup soon and we'll all be rushed off our feet and rich . (I've got a rose tinted visor from reading to many of Mr Blairs threads )
  12. Hi mate I've got the Bluebird sg13 which Husky bought out and re badged. I've had it for eight years and its been a bloody good tool. The only down side is the price for spares if you need them, I got a quote for a new clutch from Husquvarna of £1000 and ended up getting it from wheaterbys for £165 all in so you ve got to watch. I have'nt got any knowledge of the others so cant comment. Would look about abit before I paid £2500 for second hand as I think you should pick one up for under 2k without to much problem
  13. I second that:thumbup1:
  14. £600! around £500 more like, as for having a ticket to buy one I was once told that they can be sold to a person without a ticket if that person is going to use it to obtain their ticket It must be true as I havent got a ticket and I've bought brand new from more than one supplier in this very way
  15. Im tempted to take this thread to the next level by doing a tree with one in each hand
  16. I run with 2 ( one in each hand ) no only joking but would no doubt wind someone up on the cut and chuck thread . They're both getting to the stage where they should be replaced but at about 1k to replace both I think Ill soldier on, even though the smart thing to do would be to buy a new one every 2 years selling the old one for £300 the right off on the tax would cover any loss
  17. I have always been under the impression that its the responsibility of the person carrying out the work to check for TPOs. Id pull another sicky and use the time to see where you stand before you march in and answer to many questions. Can anybody on the old firm give you the heads up on whats going on ? Have you thought about talking to your old boss, it might be in both of your best interest to be singing from the same hyme sheets. Good luck anyway
  18. Your right but for me it just wouldnt be cost effective I've saved bits like it in the past and never yet got a wood turner to put his hand in his pocket I started keeping burrs as and when they turned up, had some cherry, Cedar and some really knarly bits of laburnum rolling about in the truck for ages until I ran out of wood for the fire one night and rememberd they were there. Felt a bit bad for burning them
  19. I wouldnt bother trying to stand it up just cut the butt off and wind the grinder into it. If it decides to right its self then so be it, it wouldnt make any difference to me either way
  20. The trouble with this topic is the wording of the title, I dont think the use of the word "Bottled" is appropriate. I have done alot of climbing and never started a job and not finished it. I ve had to change the plan of attack on many occasions and dont see this as bottling it, more listening to your gut instinct. Its then that I use my brain experience and the advice of others to overcome or get round the problem. I dont mind if anybody wants me to explain further but please dont jump down my throat, im not out to start a slanging match only a laugh and maybe learn a thing or 2 on the way
  21. They were probably Caravan Utilising Nomadic Trespassing Species
  22. There's only one thing worse than tennis elbow and that tennis ball
  23. Yeah your right its only a tree at the end of the day
