  1. Man alive £3500!!!! that a joke
  2. Yes that include fitting but I had to prepare the opening, so all it left him to do was pipe down chimney with a hanger onto the stove and cut a closure plate from fire boarding. No plastering surround or harth.
  3. I had a shock last week when I got a quote to fit a stovax 3 with a 6 metre liner for £2000. I can buy the liner and stove for less than £800, plus all the bits and bobs and and a mates mewp its still going to be less than a grand. I know the chap fitting it has to earn a living but a grand is taking the mickey, plus it took him 4 weeks to get to me and it would have been atleast another 4 till he could do it so my chances of finding a cheaper quote from a firm that can do it before Christmas is remote. Are there any members on here that have fitted their own and can help with advice if I take the plunge and do it myself.
  4. I used to get all calls diverted to the mobile but had so many sales pitches I stopped the forwarding and no longer answer the landline, instead I have left a message explaining the situation to customers and ask them to leaves a message so I can return the call. There is no doubt that these sales calls have lost me work but when I do answer the phone its alway ppi claim, advertising in sports centres or doctors surgery's, debt management ect ect ect. A royal pita that im sure we could all do without.
  5. Well im going to buck the trend on this thread and say that jobs seem to get smaller and more involved and the lack of money means one job sometimes has to be staged for the owners to be able to afford it. The lack of large gardens and the abundance of large estates with in house teams where I am goes along way to explaining the phenomenon, add to this the high percentage of retired people on fixed incomes and Bobs your uncle. Am I concerned ? Nope I just plod on one day at a time
  6. Picked all the plumbs, runners and cucumbers, toms have now got blight so they are going to be pulled out and were going to plant the polly tunnel up with broad beans.
  7. I have been hearing the same old story for years
  8. Im only pulling your leg mate about the wall, and we all know the pics dont do trees justice
  9. Im not bothered if we do tbh.
  10. I save timber for turners it kicks around the yard until I get short of firewood then I log it up, a pile of yew is next on the chopping block.
  11. Mind there aint any walls hiding near by! they've got a habit of appearing from nowhere just when you least expect it, their buggers for that
  12. All those years ago but still not forgotten. Good story
  13. I put mine on and it took me less than a minute to gel, I then got groundy to try it and left him to do the back side of the hedge I filmed the video on, he loved the thing. Its not without faults but my shoulders have been pain free for a couple of years thanks to it. Good luck with the sale mate
  14. 3 hours, 3 hedges and your giving up on it!
  15. Check the indicator bulbs are correct, if the wrong ones are used they can cause similar problems.
  16. Drove one for six years and it had its faults but nothing compared to the problems we had with the 3 fast tracks that followed.
  17. Its brill alright just silly selling it with rubbidh tyres.
  18. More thought should have gone into putting solid tyres on the AT, if it meant that it would cost more and they would sell less its abit sneaky selling it with inflatables and leaving only 2 options open to the purchaser 1 endless punctures 2 thd additional expense of solids.
  19. I haven't spent a penny on advertising for about 6 years:thumbup:
  20. I recon a steam chipper that burns the chip to power its self would be cool imagine having s bucket of ash from a days chipping and no fuel bill.
  21. Thats not the price if you read the description. By my reckoning it should be reported.
  22. I recon it was pot bound when planted and just struggling to maintain its self.
  23. Probably less distance for them to walk to the pub.
