  1. Yeah still working well, not used very often but when they are their worth their weight in gold, my only gripe is its easy to knock them off channel or for the volume to turn down and keep meaning to buy a couple of bum bags to put the cb in.
  2. Cheers for the advice
  3. I gotta lot of love for the wee mantis tillers
  4. It starts and runs ok just smokes, It came from the estate my cousin manages and has been in the barn for 4 years un touched, the new owner of the estate wanted it gone so my cousin drained the tank which has a leak in it and used the battery from his quad to start it up, hence me buying a new one. Ill give it a good thrash, check the gears and let you know
  5. Yeah your dead right there Andy and the saying " throwing good money after bad " springs to mind but Im one to look on the bright side of things. Im not looking for the quad to be a show winner just good enough for bombing about lamping and maybe pulling a small trailer with a saw and hedge cutter on some of the bigger sites.
  6. The stickers says its a 1985 trx 250.
  7. Its air cooled so no rad and it has 250 stamped on the cylinder,
  8. Not sure of the model Muttley it has a central head light rather than the normal head lights and cast under the Honda badge it just says special, Cheers for the offer of helping with parts but might just let Rich crack on with it.
  9. I have ordered a battery and intend on giving it a blat on the farm to check out the gears and brakes, Its 250 mile round trip to Dover from here so if it just seems to be engine ill get a price to stick it on a pallet and send it down.
  10. So the sun is out for a couple of hours and already I've had 2 calls asking if I can shift branches and garden waste. Its not something I do as I had some real horrible experience with piles getting bigger, bags of dog pooh and rubble to name just a few gripes.
  11. Hi all I have bought an old 250cc 2wd Honda quad and none of the local motor cycle shops want to touch it , it smokes badly on start up but clears some what when used so Im thinking its either a gasket or the valve seals or worst case the rings. Do any of you guys know of a firm that will stock the parts off the shelf ie piston, gaskets and seals plus any advice. Even better would be contact details for a firm that will sort the problems on it so I dont have to get my hands oily.
  12. Reg please stop making tree work look like fun to the masses, its part of the reason that the trade is flooded with wanna fallers
  13. 8 years is bloomin good going for anything that comes into contact with salt water let alone drives into it
  14. Is it still there ?
  15. We should'nt joke Geoff or we'll end up getting Jons goat up
  16. My uncle once filled his tooth with car filler and a mate got so fed up with a crown falling of he glued it with araldite. My old boss used to pull his own teeth out but then I suppose a couple of generations back it was common practice.
  17. You goat to be be kidding ?
  18. Fursty ferret
  19. Cheers for starting the thread Paul Your not alone mate I think the adrenalin from climbing day in day out and the demands on our minds and bodies is a recipe for just this kind of situation. I find as soon as I have a few days off I start to go from being pumped to feeling flat, its like going cold turkey:thumbdown:. I try now when things go quiet to get a fix from exercise which either burns a chemical or releases one but stops me from feeling odd. The last few months are a good example as the work has come in in fits and starts, one minute im worrying about the lack of work the next im in-undated, each job seems to have a hidden problem add the weather to it and Bobs your uncle. Stick with it and use the thread to vent, just telling someone is a great way of releasing thoughts and hearing our own voice seems to put things in a far better perspective than the voice we have in our minds.
  20. Cheers Dave
  21. Im all for the odd bit of ivy on a tree but that ash was screaming out to be freed, nice job and well done for giving the old girl a chance
  22. Who made the axe Dave ?
  23. 99.9% of food tastes nice with beer
