  4. Well with all that traffic the mods and steve have got there work cut out so fair play to you all for putting the extra time in to keep arbtalk going on the right tracks.
  5. My local dole office is just off the main road and can be clearly seen when passing its always got the local addicts and drinkers sat there waiting for a hand out what does that tell you about where are tax is going. Its wrong but what can we do about it??

  11. I make all my own kindling out of poplar put it through the saw bench and then through the splitter can produce 175 nets in a day and i sell nets at £4 or 4 for £12 and we sell about 400 nets a season

  13. YEP its up to £75.000 its been sold about 4 times in the last couple of months.

I do work at 5 big farms that are involved in s s and have never been asked to leave anything on the ground weather this is different in the higher levels i don't know but you don't see timber left on the farms that are in the higher scheme. Im sure some of the farmers on here will know or even be in HLS
  15. Both of the big national trust properties local to me leave any timber from fallen trees for habitat and they have more and more trees die is it because of the disease spreading as the timber rots away. or just a coincidence.

  17. No where is he from how much are you paying for your mixed hardwood make sure its not got loads of pop or willow in it it all burns but you don't want to pay top money for it . My advice would be get it split as early in the year as possible get it where there is plenty of air and off the floor. When you are dealing with customers be straight with them about the size of the load and how dry it is and when you run out of seasoned don't sell green as they will not come back. cheers Mike
  18. Yes and no the beach is somebody else's but in the last 4 years ive been felling all the timber we use in our firewood so its small scale really. But a mate of mine has just bought a timber trailer for his artic so its something i am interested in doing more of.
  19. Who thinks these ideas up some bloke in an office in central London thats never been in a forest i expect. Crazy to let timber like that rot imo.
