  1. Haha, that's Martyn with a y mate  Nail on the head mate.. saw has improved since removal
  2. Learn something new each and every day.. I love arbtalk.
  3. On top of the exhaust you'll see a gold looking plate held on with a cross head screw.. undo screw, slide screen out and return screw
  4. Agree with my 560.. I feel the mesh restrict exhaust gasses a little.. and in colder climates like ours its a no brainer.
  5. The mesh is for hot dry country's where a spark can cause fire... So i hear... taken mine off the 560xp as I hear it'll cause starting issues after a while.... mate of mine removed his from 550xp and has had warranty work done since with no issues from dealer about it.. can't say I know for sure about the t540xp but I'm getting mine soon and I'll be taking it off unless someone here gives Mr a good reason not to.. hope this helps:thumbup:
  6. I'll be picking one up in a few weeks... Kid at Christmas doesn't quite cover it :D
  7. Warranty is 2 years on all new huskys.. dealer told me the other day.. push for repair or replace, they're legally bound to do so, as long as you followed the manual (which clearly you did) don't let em screw ya
  8. Enjoy it buddy... Mine just keeps feeling better and better, I'm sure performance will level out but.. man, what a saw :D
  9. Had my 560 now a few months, it's on Oregon oil at 33:1 as that's what the manual stated for non husky oil... No wonder loads of people had lean running problems.. I always read the book.. my saw, ran like a dream from day 1 :D
  10. T540xp x2, 560xp g (heated handles rock) and 395
  11. I have had the pleasure of working with George the past couple of days and today I saw this rig in operation... Incredible feet of engineering. Every little thing has been thought of.. from a folding rear flap to a removable front and hydrologic ram powered by the machine that lives on it (or a battery if the machine stays home) this is indeed the small arb firm essential.
  12. Accurate assessment from what I've heard.. I've been turned by my 560 which is a hell of a saw and the t540 is the same tech so it's orange for me (oh and the online purchase of both saw and any parts just tips it)
  13. All done and operational.. more than that I've learned stuff.. I love new skills and a sense of achievement :D:thumbup:
  14. That's what I have.. I must say it's the first I've had in bits and it looks more solid than I thought it'd be. Quite a nice saw.. still think I'm gonna punt for the t540 when I buy a new one. thx guys for your help.
  15. Knew there had to be a simpler way... That's what I get for presuming new wires on the handle meant I had to use em.. thx skyhuck I will attempt it first thing in the morning
  16. here's my problem in pictures..
  17. Bump, if anyone can help pls do, I'd like to get this running... thanks in advance guys.
  18. Hi all, A friand has leant me a well used 201t with a broken handle mount at the back.. he's also given me a new handle.. I'm happy to pull it to bits and have done but for the life of me I'm struggling to get into the front to un clip the wire.. what am I missing?? Any help (or gentle micky taking for my cluelessness) greatly appreciated. Martyn
  19. Ok I get ya.. I did find out about that fund.. that's the one I used for new trousers (we were only allowed £200 but my advisor put it in my bank and took the receipt the following week) however I managed to get them to pay for my rigging ticket (cs41 in old money) before I signed off to NEA .. isn't it funny how they have a national scheme and yet its different from one job center to the next..
  20. That's ridiculous Paul... I also used the NEA and my job center set up the loan.. I filled in some forms that they sent through the post and as soon as I signed off the funds were cleared.. of course if you mean that the job center are just buying you a saw, thats totally different.. hope this helps
  21. Count me in there to mate, my Mrs is the single most understanding person I've ever met.. my ocd drives my professional life but I know it makes me a nightmare at home, my lady and kids accept it.. I'm lucky, I know this.
  22. Ha glad I missed that one, that job was as hard on the mind as it was on the body.. did u both climb?
  23. Mate, won't see you this week, I've pulled my back so off work till Tuesday... We so need to catch up.
  24. Congratz on passing buddy.. now the fun begins
