  1. As previous post at what point does the line get drawn.. can you contact out small parts of any job?
  2. This then raises another question.. can you contract out the ground operations?
  3. Only during climbing operations.. the cleanup is contracted out surely... I'm happy to be wrong but I'm sure there's a point where EL is not required as both trust and another company (can't remember who) defined to me during preliminary discussions over pl and el.
  4. Your thinking labour only surely, I hire a guy to stand as rescue climber if needed and to chip and clear site (his chipper and trailer) the fact he and I work the job at the same time is irrelevant. Don't get me wrong I have EL but was advised that it's necessary only when using labour only not a bona-fied contractor... It's down to definition of employment
  5. Depends on the structure of employment, if the groundy is hired as a contractor with own tools, kit and insurance it's fine I believe.
  6. Mine comes in about that price.. it depends on the size of company.. I'm a tiny firm and the insurance reflects that. I'm with trust, great service and very helpful
  7. Second that... I have the 560, just set it repeatedly sinking it full tilt into a lump.. good saws that love nothing more than working hard.:D
  8. Good on them for donating.. the fact they recognise a good cause on a forum in the uk and donate willingly deserves recognition imo:thumbup:
  9. This is good info.. I use Oregon on my other saws (all husky) an I have noticed this but as soon as the bank balance allows this year it'll be a Stihl full chisel chain for the 540. Thanks
  10. Dunno which version I got... 2013 560xp g I'd say, mine runs tickover as long as I ask it to and to be fair to it I'm quite demanding of my saws and it hold up its end of the bargain perfectly.. never a fault or issue I ran it cross cutting 9hrs straight 4 days a week out of the box for 3 weeks no issues.. glad o got a good one, I love it and would be gutted if it'd had any issues.
  11. Good stuff, one more niggle cleared up.. I bet most of it is me being over analytical tbh
  12. Of course I know this, guessing the time off has already dulled the brain haha.. I'm just scratching about for a solution.. one if which could easily be operator error I'm sure.. I'll take it appart and clean it all with the compressor later, have found a knarly piece of apple stem to sink it into afterward.
  13. Sure am.. I did wonder that myself so I checked it.. I'm wondering if it's too much oil affecting the tensioner (had this on the 560 when it was set wrong)... But I'm also finding an amount of oil left after an empty fuel tank which normally means it needs to be turned up.. I'll clean it all out again later, trouble is I have no timber left till I go back to work to sink it onto now to test it haha
  14. I have run the t540 a few times since purchase and noticed the chain runs quite slack is this by design or have I missed something? I tighten it normaly and it sits fine to start with but slackens off quite quickly, I'm tightening the side bolt well and all seams ok, just wondered if it was an issue with tensioner or just my application of it.. It's new so maybe a little streatch to start? any help greatly appreciated Martyn
  15. Lets see if this works.. This should help
  16. I have a photo of the handle assemble before I took it apart for that reason.. I'll dig it out and post it shortly
  17. Wouldn't be without my 560xp g... Awsome saw
  18. Ahh I see... Shows I need to look harder.. didn't realise I could buy off the reel:rolleyes:
  19. Pulled the bag that the chain came in out of the box.. 45 drive links
  20. The number of links was not the issue haha, just where to buy one from with more links than an off the shelf Stihl chain, I normally click and wait but this is different
  21. Ok so does that mean I need one making? I'm guessing it'll be 2 links on all sizes. I have the 12" on the 540, should be just a phone call to someone that'll do it.
  22. fantastic thanks! hope it's as simple is buying the next size up, that saves a whole conversation.. either way I'm gonna find one, in your opinion does it really make the difference? I'm quite happy to have my 540 in hand after some christmas dilevery nonsense but would like it up to scratch for the new year and that means full chisel in my mind
  23. ok so is it a conversation over the phone or can one just purchace a longer 201t chain off the rack? my issue is my local stihl dealer is just that and I wonder what his reaction to "can you do me a chain for this (pulls out the t540 in orange)" my husky dealer is just that, ornage all the way, so will only advise the husky chain for my saw:001_rolleyes:... see my dylema...
  24. Mind me asking what chain you bought and where from.. I've been looking at mine, asked my dealer for a full chisel and got told there's only one chain and you got it I'm not convinced..
  25. Struck up a beaut and instantly tackled some knarly apple stem I had laying about.. haha awsome saw can't wait to use it in anger tomorrow :D
