  1. With the recent announcement that the UK-NZ working holiday scheme will start up again early march. Wanaka Tree Care has positions available for experienced qualified Arborists looking to get a change of scenery. We're a small crew covering all aspects of tree work, from large scale removal / clearance jobs to fine pruning and planting. Reach out for more information. Cheers Andy Position.docx
  2. it was Glendale i believe. but then again i've been in NZ for nearly three years so it could well have changed!!!
  3. give fountain timber a ring. i used to live in that area and that was one of our dump sites.
  4. Thanks for clearing that up for me!
  5. new zealand has something called ACC, which covers you. im sure one of the NZ guys on here will know more about this, my manager at asplundh explained it to me, and im still unsure exactly how it works. but i know im safe to work over here.

    New Axe

Sorry if this has already been posted. but thoughts? Inventor Heikki Karna redesigns the axe | Mail Online
  7. if you want to work christchurch and auckland are your best bets. asplundh are short staffed up in auckland, they may also be short in dunedin. and christchurch has tree tech.
  8. with the right timber one would be able too "Spruce" it up a bit...
  9. last one i did cat made a leap of faith, from the top. broke its back legs and pelvis. owner nursed it back to health only for it to run up the same tree again within a week of being alowed out!

    Boots

my pair of haix protector pro were very good. i wore them for about 6 months before i left for nz in november. i was very happy with them not too hot but plenty of support when climbing. especially on spikes.
  11. sweet as guys! will do!
  12. Having recently visited there, I'm really wanting to go back! its beautiful. anyone know of any work in that area? I'm based in auckland at the moment but would move down there in a heartbeat!
  13. its much harder to get a working holiday visa for canada, they only issue 3500 a year for the uk and you have to register beforehand. which took me all of 24 hours! hence why im leaving in 7 days!
  14. haha:thumbup1:textbook banter!
  15. i would have taken that in a heartbeat! i started on less than that with tickets! and i have my own PPE etc! not at all unreasonable. some people eh!
  16. Strong work silky! it just infuriates me when i see cyclists with big headphones on, especially on the road and with no helmet. no harm meant!
  17. cycling with headphones + music in is not very wise. you lose the ability to hear dangers around you... that said... if you are going to do it(i understand why you would!) use one ear piece on the pavement side leaving the roadside ear open.
  18. its suposed to be very good for wood turning.
  19. haha!
  20. Tom2020 how fast wasyour heart beating when it headded towards that door then?!!?
  21. thought about this for my ma silky, decided it wasnt worth it unless you were going to pay £150-200+ and not get the pod machines.
  22. i have been informed that the 201t's become amazing after you tune them up. stihl have pants factory settings. also stihl like you to use the more exspensive 2-stroke oil now in a lot of thier machines. hp super? or use aspen in them and they become worth the money.
  23. agreed, although i have only been in industry for 2 years now and will still work for experience at a lower wage. its an intresting thought though. could we make the public more aware of our industry by changing legislation to insist that fully qualified professionals are the only ones allowed to perform work and have a move vigorus policy on TPO's? if TPO's were more common and the fines were passed onto the owner of the tree for not using a qualified professional. would that help? would it mean they dont risk using unqualified people on the cheap?
