  1. just split and stacked about 2 cube to fill the void left so far I reckon on 8 cube for a normal winter. 2 stoves combined KW of 9. It's only a small house and its down south- very nearly France.
  2. I feel your pain mate Never had to wait that long but if he's not showing you respect now- imagine how this relationship is going to develop when he owes you money.
  3. We came across this on a site we manage. I'm thinking a chestnut of sorts judging by the buds and leaf but then theres the splitting bark - it looks terminal in places though seems to be having no impact on the health of the tree. Any help appreciated- it is heavily mistletoed
  4. A raffle for idiots like me Worked out the system to login but I'd done it before- obviously. Got the tickets and made a donation- it must be Xmas. Great prizes by the way Steve. I'm feeling lucky. Thats blown it.
  5. Free to collector About £800 if bought in nets from B&Q If delivered in rings to my house unseasoned and halfway decent stuff then I would give the driver £25. I think thats fair. It's a transit van= approx 1.2tonnes Maybe if easy splittable hardwood then £40 a load. Can't see it being much more than that= surely as I expect this is arb waste
  6. I'm not a fan of links that instal malware(Babylon search engine) on your computer that you can't remove- yet. If people post links can they ensure there are no evil intents further down the line. It wasn't on this thread I hasten to add.
  7. We're on a job in Sidcup (south east London)= next to the road on Thursday/Friday and there will be a fair few tonnes of beech available for free if you can collect. Like I say- it's right next to the road so is an easy pick up. It's a long trawl back for us otherwise I'd have it. PM me and I'll give you the address
  8. 346XP it will be then though the boys at FRJones assure me Stihl have now fixed the original problem and we should be flying. I will resurrect this post should we have grief.
  9. Amazing- I too bought a Hershey Bar' but in Las vegas It was vile- I will never buy another one. But.. I bet I do because I now don't think they can be that bad really, can they. Apologies to any Americans who obviously love them.
  10. OK- I must be going stupid After all our problems with the last 261 I've gone and ordered another. If this one plays up then I can officially label them useless. If it's as good as the other one was when first used then I will sing their praises. There you go Stihl- an order and a warning.
  11. I had a customer last week who specifically wanted 'crap' turf so his new lawn blended in with the rest of the garden. Also he wanted it all bumpy. Now where do I get crap turf. On Friday we had a blokes wifes ashes buried near the base of a 4 stem Ash covered in Ivy. They were under a standard rose which he didn't want damaging. No pressure then
  12. Back to the post That was one hell of a game. Normally when England face opposition that fights back they get all worried and stop playing but England yesterday just revved up the engine and came back harder. I believe England deserved to win all 3 of their big games this Autumn. And the crowd drowning out the Hakka- passionate
  13. ..........................okey cokey anyone?
  14. the ground has been reduced= fair enough but where was the warning tape= not their responsibility as the contractor should check for services= don't rely on warning tape. Does the customer realise your risk when you dig= no would they pay for a full survey= probably not for most domestic jobs.
  15. You are sensible CAT scanners will not pick up electric unless there is a flow. They will not pick up anything plastic. Metal will possible need a genny It's not definate and any utility will argue that the cable should be 600 but the builder has changed the soil level Pot ends cannot be detected and maps are not available on private land What hope do we have Look for access manholes/get a feel/ learn how to dowse/hope!/pray? Oh- and hand dig- what fun anyone? fingers crossed!
  16. Have to say- you need to get a decent stove that will burn both- thats what we do down south- learn son
  17. Someone obviously being a dick!!- not you- I mean the guy making the rules. He hates you saving on fuel and wear and tear on your chainsaw. Do you not do this work by the hectare priced. If not then maybe that would be the way forward.
  18. If theres anyone on here wants free wood from our tree surgery work then PM me- we regularly work a long way from our base and getting rid of it to someone who will collect would suit us fine. Our area would be SE London Thanesmead down to Gillingham plus Sevenoaks/ Tonbridge/Crowborough Maidstone Tunbridge Wells and all points in between and some further west & East. You'd have to come while we were on site.
  19. As mentioned above. Housing associations expect the tennants to be responsible for the trees but in reality they will usually arrange for them to be worked on as it's just not feasible to expect a tennant who has just moved in to be responsible for the huge tree in their rear garden. Tennants also cite roots affecting foundations or trip hazard, conkers dropping on their childrens heads etc etc. I find this often works for them...................gives us work!!
