  1. Thanks for the PM mixedangassed! Would i be best served with a general purpose and a tipper as well then? Didn't think it would be a problem with the stumper on the higher bodied tipper, but i guess they could wallow a bit round corners
  2. Afternoon guys, i'm looking for a trailer.... preferably a tipper as i want to use it for logs as well as carting the tracked stump grinder around (which wieghs600kgs). High side mesh again preferable but i can always make my own high sides at a later date! So if anyone has something suitable for sale pleae let me know. Im near Poole, Dorset. Thanks in advance, Pete

  8. good idea scot, i'll ask around in my area
  9. thanks guys..... im only going by what the local garden machinery shop have told me - im affraid my mechanical knowledge is very basic. I was told that the saw would fire with the carb removed (igniting what little ammount of fuel was in the cylinder), but as soon as the carb went back on it was flooding the engine. I may save up some spare cash to get it looked in the future but for now i can use my 660 for larger timber. Based on the ebay prices i may as well give one last shot - after all, when it was running it was a beast!!
  10. Hi guys, been away for a while! My current issue is this..... bought stihl 088 second hand, paid local machinery shop to fix a few bits and bobs, and get her running sweet. Used it 3 times since (running well) then started playing up and it seems that the carb needs replacing now too. What shall i do? Already chucked £800 at it and im reluctant to spend any more... Bite the bullet and spend the extra £240 with no definite chance of it being fixed, or cut my losses and try and sell it as is (with 3' and 4' bars too)? Tricky one - what would you do? Many thanks, Pete
  11. The food issue was very disapointing. I drove from Poole to go to the show with my dad (his first show), and left for home in the afternoon starving hungry!! I was also disapointed by the fact that the show seemed smaller than usual, with less stands/companys present (perhaps a sign of the times) although the new site freshened things up. I would have like to have seen some wood related crafts (other than the odd bloke milling) at the show. The likes of chainsaw carving, woodturning, etc as this always provides a lot of interest to myself and my friends. I felt that other than checking in with companies I regularly have dealings with, I could have stayed at home and not really missed much. Its shame i feel like this as i usually really enjoy any show that is arb industry related, and give my full support. I won't give up on shows just yet however, as i'm sure issues will be sorted out for next year (one of which getting food pricing and queing times right).
  12. I live in Broadstone, 2 minutes from where the fires were burning the other day. We had to stop work because not only could we not see anything due to the smoke(!!), but the police were evacuating the area. I've never seen so many fires crews, unimogs and landys!
  13. My best ever - was an ash tree i went to look at, the old boy says to me "i'll tell you what, you can have the logs" ...... thats great i thought, then gave him my price to dismantle, stump grind and remove all arisings (3ft diameter trunk!) etc. He looks very shocked and says "WHAT.....I thought you would do it for the logs and not charge me"!!!! When i first started doing logs i used to get really wound up with these timewasters - now i just laugh and think myself lucky that i'm not as daft as some folk!!
  14. Im very impressed mate! great work - great vid!
  15. Great stuff mate! Im looking forward to the next installment!
  16. nice one bob always looking to learn!!
  17. p.s yes i have read the thread!
  18. All im saying bob is that im not sure on the regs - the helmet is great for ice climbing (i have first hand experience on that subject).... with regards to tree work, my understanding was that you needed proper integrated ear defence and a visor (plus safety glases if desired). Would like to find out what actually is required for future reference.
  19. as i stated bob....not sure! please enlighten me
  20. location? love visiting specimen trees such as this beast!
  21. Amazing lid for ice climbing - but im not sure if it would be in line with regs.
  22. I would love to know the general consensus on this matter as i'm fed up of discribing what constitutes 'a load' and arguing the toss so to speak with customers. if it makes life as easy as i guess it would, then a hiab would make good sense.
  23. I used exterior grade birch ply - supurb! they allow a good finish if you want to paint and then subsequently sign write. I primed, undercoated and 2 coats of gloss (actually turned out really well!) They seem to be holding out well too (9 months old and strong as ever!!)
