  1. He (better not give the name away!) was playing for Portsmouth at the time, living in our local area... played for a few big clubs before that...... reason for doing the work was because his (very expensive) car collection keep having twigs fall on them, which just wouldn't do!!!
  2. bought a second hand 088a few months back...worked for 45 minutes then packed in - turns out it had a scored piston and the carb is knackered. Needed another large saw so bought a new 660 - love it!! Wont be splashing any cash for a while though as i just renewed all insurances last week which cleaned me out good and proper!!!
  3. I shall withhold the identity of the premier league footballer in question .... but needless to say he payed double what I had quoted to dismantle a large Ash tree!! That made my month!! other than that tens, twentys, whiskey, wine, beer, eggs, cooking apples, fudge, cake, a vintage axe (!) to name but a few. Makes it all worth while when people are chuffed with your efforts.
  4. Im looking at getting a new 130...how much was the ally body if you don't mind me asking? Pete
  5. I keep getting some rude responses when trying to educate my customers new and old..... surely people need to open there eyes and see sense, this glutt for hardwood is going to have to change or else there wont be enough left to go round!
  6. a little short of decent kit suppliers down this way.... i use the net or wait and create a big shopping list for the various arb shows!
  7. For me...with a small domestic job, i want the brash chipped as quickly and efficiently as possible, so that we can get cracking and move on to the next job. I think that established co.s with chippers etc would simply do the watse removal themselves. My humble opinion is that this service would be better suited to co's without the means to chip etc or larger scale jobs.
  8. This idea could work on larger scale jobs as Tom mentioned... if you can make logistics easier for a tree company then they may very well use you. I can think of three jobs in the last two months where a tractor and trailer would have been amazing!! Obviously you would need half decent access for tractor trailer combo, and the figures would have to stack up to make it worth your while.... so perhaps offer the service, dip your toe and see what happens! Good luck
  9. Riko seemed good but im holding judgement for now until i recieve a reply to an issue i have with my splitter... we shall see!
  10. chainsaw trousers were so heavy when i got out of the pool...i felt like a right donkey when the lads pointed out that not a single bee had followed me!!!
  11. unfortunately/fortunately (!) taking my girlfriend to Westonburt on the 29th to show her what all the fuss about trees are! 30th will be in n.somerset visiting my folks. I say unfortunately because i sense your about to invite me to join you for a spot of offroading!
  12. That was quick thinking chris.... i had to jump into a customers swimming pool two years ago because we didn't realise there was a bee colony half way up a dead standing pine, they came swarming out a short delay after the trunk hit the deck.... luckily the bees just swarmed into a nearby monterey and jumping in the pool made me look stupid!! Your 30 stings could have been a lot more on another day!! glad your alright mate
  13. I can see where your coming from Tommer...the 90 is quite dinky! Its ideal for zipping round doing quotes, but great for when it has to work (towing). Next year im hoping to get a new 130 chassis tipper and get a nice ally chip box put on the back. Haven't mentioned this to my other half yet but i'm sure she will be ok with it!!
  14. My landy tows like a dream...in fact i'd say it feels more solid and stable with something dragging along behind it!! (which doesn't say much!)
  15. You got it matt!!.... got it for towing stumper round, logs/trailer, towing splitter and doing quotes for work. And a toy for the weekend!! Rob....that made me chuckle!! came in handy getting the chipper alongside that woodland edge job - although it looked like good firm ground, it was very wet and soft and the transit got scared on the wet grass!!
  16. What is a 'little englander attitude' then?
  17. Fair enough andy - I hope my comment was taken as tounge in cheek
  18. The Police could do with a few unimogs with chippers...maybee a few forestry flails too! That would get the job done
  19. Thanks for replies guys - i went to hilliers today and got a very nice davidia - Rupert the chap who worked there seemed like a nice guy and knowledgeable too. Will definately check out the other nuseries for the future but it went well with hilliers.
  20. i just hold the phone up to the timberwolf whenever i get one of these calls - funnily enough they never seem to be on the other end of the phone after a few minutes of chiping!!
  21. im not apreciating my brand new defender 90.... twice back to the garage for warranty work within the first 7 weeks of having it!! Que the barrage of "i told you so's"!!!
  22. Simon (dorset logger) how much do you want for your ifor? Where are you based as i could pop over and take a look mate? Pete
  23. Need a 'Pocket handkerchief tree' Davidia Involucrata 2.5 metres. Any recomendations for decent nurserys preferably in the south? Thanks, Pete
