  1. Pics taken today with my new work camera. Canon Ixus 115HS Pics 1,2,3, - Found on a failed Hawthorn Pics 4,5,6 - Trametes versicolor growing on a Hawthorn stump. Phallus impudicus also grows around this stump. Pics 7,8,9,10,11 - Found growing at the base of a recovering/subsiding beech. Pics 12,13,14,15 - Phellinus tuberculosus on a snapped Blackthorn stem.
  2. As per Hamas instructions i did a length ways slice of two parts of the squirrel damaged log. They came out pretty well as i did it with a reasonably sharp bowsaw. A chainsaw would have been too rough and the axe may have seperated the rotten wood from the good wood.
  3. Will have plenty more this winter. Some bigger, some smaller but this is about average size for 4 days of solid burning.
  4. She was a bit of a beast when it got going. We to keep it fairly compact as we were on a bridge and close to a public bridleway. When we are on the ancient monuments or down our fire pit then we can be let loose and have a fire as big as we want.
  5. Could have got a corker first thing when i got it going again. With the sunlight poking through the trees into the smoke. Shame i left my camera in the van which was on its way to the yard to pick up the tractor.
  6. Would a chunk of it split suffice? As only 6 inches think and can cut a disc with a bowsaw
  7. How many walls has this fungi pushed through whilst it was up in the tree? It was in a heavily Squirrel damaged sycamore about 12 ft down from a wound.
  8. May as well kickstart this thread back into life. Here is my "wee" fire. Lots of Sycamore, Ash, Beech and Field Maple with two Sallow Willows thrown in for good measure.
  9. Yup and going to be playing in East Devon/West Dorset. Where abouts in N Somerset are you folks as got relatives up there too?
  10. What are you doing on 30th October?
  11. Bit of an odd question, but what is the max payload of a P REG (1996) 110 County Station Wagon. As got a log run to do for a friend.
  12. That a work vehicle or a mix between work and private play thing?
  13. We run both on our BCS flail. The Y cut them and the hammers destroy the rest.
  14. My boss went to look at a major clearance of an old castle site. He told me that it was overgrown with trees. Ive just found a website with pictures of the monument and he wasnt taking the mickey. One central bonfire i think and work our way out. Weatherby Castle (Hillfort) | UK | The Modern Antiquarian.com
  15. Nope. The one who has driven over the brushcutter feels so bad about it, he is paying for it out of his own pocket.
  16. A bit of Blues [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_K8Zns3s9A&feature=related]Shakira - Illegal ft. Santana - YouTube[/ame]
  17. Not likely. Most likely a very bored copper on a Tuesday evening who became suspicious of a young lad with saws in the boot. But i still can't figure out how a chainsaw can be classed as an offensive weapon. You cant exactly hide it in your pocket.
  18. Get dow nthe cop shop ASAP. Take any documentation of your line of work and ask how a chainsaw can be classed as an offensive weapon. Or phone the non emergency number and they can put you through the local station or offficer who pulled your bro over and seized your saws.
  19. Paddy and Murphy fancy a pint but only have a euro between them. Paddy goes off and buys a sausage. Murphy says "are you mad? Now we're skint". "Come on now" says Paddy "follow me". They go into the pub and order 2 pints and drink before they pay. Paddy shoves the sausage through the zipper of his jeans and tells Murphy to get on his knees and suck it. The barman goes berserk and throws them out. 10 Pubs and pints later Murphy says "i cant do this anymore, my knees are sore and i'm pissed." How do you think i feel?" says Paddy. "I can't even remember which pub i lost the sausage in"
  20. My group almost all back to full strength ready for tea.
  21. The start of a two felling job (big boss thought it would be a day). Lots of S/D Sycamores and field maples that were all pulled over with the Ranger. One of them was a bit of a pain as got severely hung-up in a Western Red Cedar. We used the Ranger with a 25mm poly rope and used the vans pulling power off the tow hitch to rip it out. Had a massive fire to burn the arisings and took a van load of logs for a friend at the end of the day.
  22. Got a FS450 awaiting a new driveshaft after a colleague reversed over it. He was given an ear bashing as i stuck a stick next to it with a hi-viz jacket. Going to replace the gear head whils't i'm at it as we may as well having running hear of the same age.
  23. They are a tad noisy but other than that they are fine. Like any tyre they are twitchy whe nthe roads are damp/greasy and they are good in the wet. As there is less rubber on the road because of the tread pattern we take it steadier than normal and the braking isn't changed much.
