  1. Nope going tomorrow with the old man
  2. On our Wessex flail mounted to our Kubota Compact the bolts originally supplied and fitted were fully threaded Hex bolts with a nyloc nut on the end and a steel sleeve to protect the threads (which didnt work). We ordered stronger bolts but asked for them to be shouldered upto the last inch and half for the nut. They were the same total width of the hole so were a snug fit but atleast we dont have to worry about a bolt wearing away even when the flail deck is set up level with the tractor ROPS.
  3. Not alot to report other than having that large beech felled on Milldown. We were given paperwork on what to look out for on trees this summer. We spotted a lovely Copper Beech today, the only trouble is it has Merip and is in a raised bed. There are a few fruiting bodies away from the tree including one coming out of the tarmac next to the tree. Due to the location it may be left but it may also be felled due to the majority of its root plate in the raised bed.
  4. Had a break in at our bottom yard in Blandford early this morning. Luckily a member of the public who lives right next to the yard heard banging at 3 this morning and called the police which disturbed the burglars. They cut two padlocks and smashed down 2 doors for a scope around and bolt cropped the chain locking the gate. We have spent to day moving all gear easily nickable to a much more secure unit in the town covered by 24 hour CCTV. So fingers crossed it will be all ok.
  5. Glad i spotted those cracks as i don't think it would have lasted another storm or two.
  6. The pictures but not of a dismantle. A timely fell i think Check out the walls.
  7. It was felled this morning by a local tree surgeon. Sadly couldnt get any decent pictures due to the area they had cordoned off. Judging by the colour of the wood in the middle it was a good call to have it felled. Will be up early in the morning to get pictures of the remaining stem which was ringed up ready for removal by the tree surgeon.
  8. How intensive is the the LANTRA qual? As have the basic but not the paper trail to go with the surveys i've done in the past.
  9. Not picking up much grass there.
  10. Blandford Garden Machinery (01258) 488955. They are very reasonably priced and can always fit in jobs for you. We use them for anything from chipper servicing to fault finding on strimmers, blowers, etc
  11. The escort vehicle was in front of that just out of shot:thumbup:
  12. To mark the Centenary of the start of WW1 the steam fair organised a convoy to head to the steam fair. Heres the pics and two videos as they headed through blandford.
  13. Mullered a wasp nest yesterday with the BCS flail. Only got stung once but the ground was golden with dead ones so must have been an out of ground nest in the nettles i was boshing back on the right of way.
  14. Calm before the storm in Blan vegas tonight. No wind, muggy, low cloud base with a few spots in the air. Difficult to judge by the forecasts if it going to be 50-60 mph gusts inland or just on the coast.
  15. Heart breaking decision to have our beloved spaniel Charlie put to sleep tomorrow. He has Vestibular disease in both ears which is in its advanced stage. He is 15 years old and has had a very fine innings. We've had him since he was 18 months old and was our first spaniel. Its a hard decision to help him the rainbow bridge but he has no muscle mass on his legs or shoulders and has lost all balance and control of his limbs so won't have a decent quality of life. He will be very sorely missed.
  16. Couldn't resist ordering this for a bit of a laugh at work
  17. Didn't know Timbrel had been withdrawn. Do you need a license for Timbrel as well as Asulox?
  18. Sorry i should have explained further. The weight of the flail heads blew the hoses, rams and hydraulic tank on our kubota when the flail deck was lifted to its transport position which wasn't covered by warranty due to a loophole despite kubota supplying the flail head.
  19. For those of you who watched Deadliest catch a few years ago when Phil Harris passed away. You may remember this song. The episode when he was buried brought a tear to me eye as 3 months prior i had done the same to my nan.
  20. We currently have Kubota F3680 with a 42 inch rotary deck. We were told by kubota that our mower could not have a flail deck on due to the tank splitting and blowing hoses which would not be covered under warranty. We are going to try the Ransomes Parkway 3 meteor with the paddle (conventional tractor) hammers and look at the finish.
  21. Had a trial of a Ransomes Parkway 3 Meteor today. All i can say is Wow. Fantastic machine but the conclusion we found today was we need Paddle hammers. Not the back to back hammers due to the toughness of the grass we cut. Anyone else used the Parkway 3 meteor?
  22. A large pine in a cemetery came down in Poole in the early hours of the morning. Not my area but from what i have heard there was no signs of rot at the base but sap was appearing from cracks in the bark about 3 weeks prior to the failure. Large tree comes down on top of headstones at cemetery (From Bournemouth Echo)
  23. The tree is being given the chop in the next few weeks due to its instability. Further cracks have appeared and in the dry weather the original spilts have opened up showing vertical splits in the timber. I will be getting pictures of the dismantle and any rot which may appear during the dismantle.
