  1. Another weekend done, Another weekend being in my happy place. First time running the truck at a pay and play site. She was given an absolute kicking but made it. Got towed a few times but plenty of peeps to help. Now to add a few bits to the list of bits in need of work. [ame] [/ame] [ame] [/ame]
  2. We run two Wessex trailers, one caged tipper and a 12'x6' plant for our mower. Can't fault either of them, still on original tyres. Can get a bit snakey with weight but they do have alot of rubber between the rim and road unlike our Indespension 14 x 5 which is on low profiles.
  3. The boss brought an MS170 that wasnt idling right. No screws to fettle with so changed air filter. When i got the the spark plug i was amazed it was running at all. Someone hadnt tightened it up enough and was firing but was down on compression, so tightened the plug up problem solved. Was going to order some new chains too but have salvaged a couple of goodens out of the line we have. Got a mix of .325 and 3/8" chains of varying bar lengths and cutters so will sort them out and send the .325 down west for their saws.
  4. Another weekend, another day green laning around Wilts. And yes in the first two pics we were stuck [ame] [/ame]
  5. Not posted for ages mainly due to the fact not had the time with work and looking after my mum and keeping the house in order. Got out at the end of last month for a days laning, Some cracking lanes done no damage to our truck luckily.
  6. Will probably pop up saturday night. Nurse the resulting hang over sunday lol
  7. Had a few limbs down but nothing challenging. Spent the arvo verge cutting.
  8. Hi ted. Luckily not as the trees we would subsequently fell, the stumps would be ground out. Not bad been on a rough road this year but would rather say via PM whats been happening.
  9. I think i have spotted Merip fruiting at the bottom of a dying Sycamore. The targets are a heavily used path and rough picnic area. The tree has been in decline for years but this year it has what appears to be merip at the base. Four other trees are showing signs of significant die back in the vicinity so will be felled at the same time.
  10. I love the area i work in and some of the rarer species that are found here.
  11. Another weekend, another day green laning. Same again next weekend, will be doing my rain dance this week, it was succesful last time lol
  12. Hha nope all stayed on piste. No off piste driving is allowed on the days. If ya go off piste you are sent home no questions asked. Its been a great two days. Truck is now in need of some bushes as they were donking a bit. Out again this sunday but driving all the way to basingstoke.
  13. Yup and beyond. We ended up at Marlborough yesterday haha
  14. Not been post alot as of late as had a complete breakdown as had a massive amount of my plate this year. I haven't posted it on here as wanted to be on my own. I was so low i was almost at the point of ending it all but am now back out of that spiral and on my way up. Thinking about myself alot more and looking after myself mentally. This weekend has been such a relaxing one as i could let my hair down so much more than i have been able to and come out of my shell properly. Was a quality way to spend a weekend driving around wiltshires byways in areas i have yet to explore until now.
  15. Students are going to suffer thanks to some cretins stealing 26 saws. Head up guys, only 2 months til the Steam Fair. Urgent police appeal after 26 chainsaws are taken from a Dorset college | Western Gazette
  16. We run 3mm square stihl cord through our autocut 4 line head. We did it as a trial at the start of the season and have just bought a massive roll of it for the season but a 30 metre roll has lasted us from march until now through heavy grass, nettles, docks, etc.
  17. Been months since i last posted but had a huge amount on my plate and its not getting any easier. Anyway heres the pics ....
  18. Been on the strimmer from 8 til 5, only stopp for lunch and fuel stops. Been in front of our tractor all day. Legs are shot, shoulders are sore but no pain, no gain. Back on it for two more days then a 2 day weekend then back on it.
  19. Been doing a bit of spring surveying whilst out with my boys. The first set of pics is of the base of a big Ash. Its about 3ft wide at the base and about 70ft high. It lost two big limbs last year but only flattened the understory. If if falls it may just about reach a local road with the tips or tickle a house boundary fence. The other tree is a large Beech with a partially split stazi ear. The targets are two heavily used paths by school children and elderly people. It is in a prone location especially from prevailing winds.
  20. Just the heads up guys. Transits and such like doing the rounds trying to sell generators and fake stihl goods. Had one chap ask us about a "HONDA" generator and a "stihl" chainsaw which blatently were fake. Phoned the local bobbies with reg number. They beleive they are operating out of the Shaftesbury traveller site but cant be 100% sure.
  21. Found and ordered the full set for both our Berta flail and new Trimax 155 flail deck as a spare set. Spoke to a chap at New Forest garden machinery and the "Gammaflail" the Triamx runs would fit our Yanmar powered Berta flail and would produce a finer finish.
  22. Yup basically a boot flail but with a slightly wider cutting edge.
  23. Our BCS 740 WS flail needs new hammers. The Y hammers were good but the back edge has been beaten to pieces from hitting large stone and clattering into its neighbour behind or the bracket. They are very well worn so need a new set for the summer. I have been trying to find "paddle" hammers to fit the Berta flail but all i can find is the standard Y head, T head and II head. The flail will be used for rights of way clearance, site work and verge cutting. I am thinking paddle hammers as they hold their edge better that the Y and T head. Any ideas?
  24. Looks like honey fungus may have got in but the builders digging at the roots wouldnt of helped matters. Looks to be a fair amount of root compaction in the "drip line" too.
