  1. Sorry Rob ..pressed the wrong button and posted before I had finished You could write an account of something you have experienced yourself..then reflect upon it so it becomes a written critical incident.Use reflective practice to show how you have analysed your findings to influence your own training requirements, leading to your own development via the improvement of skills ,professionalism, value to the local community, profession, colleauges etc. Hope there may be something here that may help you? regards Dave
  2. Hi Rob Does the incident have to be genuine..in the abscence of resources we often use simulation to achive learning outcomes? sorry if i'm missing the point but could you simply write an account of an incident which has happened within the industry, establish the factors leading to this and then retrospectively describe what should have been in place and thus what procedures would be need reveiwing?
  3. Once youv'e been to oz you cant get rid of the itch to go back ..thats nothing to do with the bugs either.
  4. Hi Folks I am currently in a position where I can further my industry knowledge via further study, I have no formal qualifications in Arb or Forestry but I am educated to level 5 in horticulture. The qualification would have to be delivered via distance learning but currently I dont have much time to research what qualifications are available. I would appreciate any suggestions or feedback anyone may offer as for the best way for me to procede. On a pro-active front, if anyone has any horror stories regarding the delivery of distance learning or alternatively the quality of a particular provider I would also be very grateful. regards Dave:thumbup:

  8. Identify the pitch of each chain, use identification numbers or trademarks which may be stamped on tie straps, drivelinks or in the case of stihl;stamped on the depth gauge to assertain this. Then use the appropriate chain guide for filing requirements, most manufacturers produce these on-line as pdf documents. regards Dave
  9. I would always assume maybe incorrectly, that similar deformation is caused by graft incompatability. We have an Acer on campus which has done a similar thing but have always assumed it was reaction wood brought about by Shell buckling? check out C. Mattheck (The face of failure) on page 124.just thinking laterally? Dave

  17. QTS involves tests that cover the core skills that teachers need to fulfil their wider professional role in schools, rather than the subject knowledge required for teaching. This is to ensure all teachers are competent in numeracy, literacy and information and communication technology (ICT), regardless of their specialism Those coming to work in further education and skills with QTS have to complete Professional Formation and gain QTLS status within two years of taking up a teaching position (post-September 2007). When you undertake Professional Formation, the IfL will verify whether this familiarisation process has taken place or not, during the assessment of your portfolio.
