  1. Does anyone know the reason why the lime avenue at clumber park has "black paint" applied to the base of each tree..have had many theories over the years but never produced an accepted answer. regards Dave:thumbup1:

Its used for agricultural work..but there is a model with a rotating hydraulic cab which allows you to attach just about anything...some excellent videos of Xerions working in northen european forests on youtube.. The john Deere in the background is lucky to have survived after having a 1 tonne water tank dropped on the roof by a student when he was carrying out his forklift assessment...needless to say he failed?   8. Talk to my boss? no one was intrested when i tried to organise that last year, ended up taking only 3 learners all the way to Cirencester, wasnt impressed:thumbdown:.....saying that i havent got a problem if you guys show enough intrest. Dave

  12. Hi Folks, can anyone recommend an arboricultural themed location which would be suitable for a bus load of level 2 Arb students. Ideally looking for something within 2 hours of Lincoln, have visited Sherwood, clumber park, Cambridge botanics etc. any advice greatly received. Dave:thumbup:

  14. Thanks for that link MonkeyD sorry my original post was a bit vauge , thought I may get lambasted as the thorn was/is associated more correctly with christianity than paganism, will research things with a bit more detail in future. THanks again Dave:thumbup:

Hi Folks sorry if this is a reacuring thread..we have some english yews on site that are showing severe signs of stress ... initially thought it may just be damage caused by the low winter temperatures. Apparently the first signs of what appears to be scorch was noted in one tree two months ago, this has got progressively more severe. Several other trees have since also showed damage and the symptoms seem to be spreading across campus which is quite worrying. All the affected trees are approximately 200 years old and are in sheltered positions. there are no other signs of pathogens on the foliage or bole, the foliage appearing brown and desicated. Has anyone any ideas, the trees have shown localised patches of what was assumed to be weevil damage for the pastcouple of years but nothing more. regards Dave:001_smile:

  21. Thanks for the reply mr War sir, i'm intreaged by "plant nappies" i'm assuming they are similar to oil spill kit sponges? could you provide any more info as i have this horrible image of my lads soiled pampers thanks again Dave:thumbup:

Thanks for the reply Charlieh, does the term bio oils relate to hydraulic system fluids only? i'm assuming regular desiel generates the same particulates as biofuel when burnt thus cannot see the advantage to using biofuel on SAC's etc, perhaps i should check out aspens website? many thanks Dave:blushing:
