  8. my guess is that the tree has deposited a lot of anthocyanins in its xylem cells the trees foliage usually has large amounts of this compond. I have only ever seen this colouration in Malus niedzwetzkyana where it is used as a diagnostic feature - nice bit of compartmentalisation going on in there to?
  9. This is a realy stupid question? :blushing:it relates to AFAG 401 in the PPE section where it states that a safety helmet should be used with a suitable chin strap ? the question is - does anyone climb using a forestry helmet with an elasticated strap? i always assumed the strap had to be of the locking type to avoid the helmet detatching in the event of a fall. said it was a silly question. cheers Dave Illegitimis non carborundum

  13. Hi Kev I concur with you regarding the use of the Mizer, just for the record i totally destroyed the old drum chipper. The anvil blade decided it would like to have a spin inside the drum housing, needless to say the blades all fragmented and judging by the condition of the drum casing almost penetrated through 1/4" of steel ....aparently you could hear its death cry the other side of the campus ...had the benefit of forcing the purchase of a new timber wolf though so best forgotten. regards Dave
  14. look forward to seeing you soon stay slinky
