  1. Looks like Pholiota squarrosa from here...
  2. Having done the CAS course with Jon Heuch a year or two ago there was no mention of any kind of licence. Could it be the old AMUIG? As for price, it's based on my day rate, and can vary a lot depending on travel and number of trees etc - same as any other report...
  3. Nice shot. I had a heron land on the roof of my house while gardening with the kids earlier - made our day
  4. Think along the lines of 'i like children, but I couldn't eat a whole one'. And I will call you at some point! Got three kids throwing up at the mo
  5. Rarely if ever in my experience! Don't forget the AAAC includes CHAS...
  6. I remember! Really, says 'a moment ago' on my phone...
  7. Howdy Gerritt, long time no see. Hope life has been treating you well. How did your new book go, will there be an English translation at some point? Ps. Sorry for the derail...
  8. Just remembered I'd posted this, and no replies so, bump bump... anyone?

    Jokes???

    An excellent life skill!
  10. Looks more like necrosis from Innonotus hispidus to me - check the ground below for old black brackets...
  11. I confess, I didn't look but anything to save money is good
  12. While I appreciate the thought, may I be the first to say 'bah humbug'! While I like the break, time with family, good food etc, I don't follow Christianity; so don't celebrate Christmas. And I despise the wanton consumerism just about everyone feels compelled to partake in most. My wife moans I don't get involved in the choosing of hundreds of pounds worth of gifts for our three children and token gifts for close family - I just don't want to know! I would rather make/give/trade gifts of homemade booze/cakes/pies etc at a get together. Anyway, rant over please think about what Christmas really means to you, and why you buy people presents. Maybe if enough people were open and honest about not wanting to give or receive gifts the 'christmas period' would be more relevant to our beliefs and how we life our lives the rest of the year, rather than jumping on the bandwagon without a second thought because it's what we/everyone else does...
  13. Where's that 'like' button people keep talking about...
  14. Impossible to give complete advice based on one poor quality photo, but, I reckon that tree has been damaged by the builders already. Compaction of rooting area, materials stored and possible leaching of cement etc near the base, new foundations close by and possible root severance to name a few issues. Yes it's a beech (lovely, large trees), do you like/want to retain it? If so then get an independent report done. Check also if a BS:5837 tree survey was carried out as part of the planning permission, look online or check with the LA planning dept. All the best...

    Mycorrhiza

That ring looks significantly more than a 5837 rpa based on stem diameter; or is it a deceiving photo?
  16. Definitely give pear a call. Treeminder will suit you I reckon...
  17. Twice as long as it is from the middle to one end, same to the op's question...
  18. Avoid cloud1 like the plaque! I can't speak for the others, but have been using pear tech for a few years now and find it, and the customer support, superb - survey info is fully customizable too, which is very useful...
  19. Looks merip-ish to me. Could the 'gills' be the fibers below the pore layer, which may have been rotted/eaten away? Maybe, David....
  20. I've seen something along those lines, not specific to arb though, and buggered if I can remember where! Sorry, not much use really...
