  1. I see, well yes I think go for it as general interest and hazard assessment course. For development site (ie. BS5837) arb reports the pti won't cut the mustard though...
  2. Ah, I see, that does make sense (I think). Could you not take some site/species specific ratios as a benchmark to estimate the remainder?
  3. Why are you interested in it? Where are you wanting your career to head? The pti is a good starting point (although it seems like you already have a good starting point) for carrying out hazard assessments, but no good if you want to be able to do other surveys or reports. And you'd obviously need pi insurance if you are working in that line of work, even for several years after you stop the work...
  4. Quite spectacular...
  5. And open grown trees presumably, not that I have ever come across such a rule of thumb ratio. Why do you need to know, out of interest? Or tell me to wind my neck in!
  6. Colchester, but can post if you cover p&p and a little plastic box...
  7. How many will you be wanting for your niche fetish animal porn enterprise?
  8. You'll like this Bolam, they're all ladie-boys with both bits...
  9. He he, they aren't that giant! And our rats and ducks also love the eggs. I'm in no rush, neither are they...
  10. Yep, Bix must be marked as 'live food'...
  11. OK, if you only have one you won't get eggs, but they do seem to like company, honestly! Just make sure you turn the soil every week to check for eggs if you get more than one. They are quite interesting really, especially when they get bigger...
  12. Of course, do read up a little first though. They are very easy to keep, we don't use a heat mat or anything - just a cheapo glass tank in a warm living room, eating left over veg and off cuts, just don't let their eggs hatch! Sticking them in a bag in the freezer will kill them, or they are genuinely edible apparently, not that I've tried. Let me know if you definitely want any, and pm address details etc. 7th, I believe it is illegal to release them into the wild in this country, but no threat in captivity, and I expect our winters would kill them off anyway...
  13. ... Or reasonably good home... ... Or a standard home... ... Or a hungry French fella... Anyone want any giant African land snails? I have around 50 to spare (don't ask!) Shells currently approx 2 inches long, nice markings. Collection from or can deliver around Colchester, or post if you cover cost of a little tupperware box and p&p. Make great pets, or go well with garlic. Also with that many you could farm their plentiful eggs to sell as snail caviar, so a business opportunity maybe....
  14. The quote earlier is regarding hedgerows regs, yes technically if the stems are over 75mm in a ca you'd need to notify the la. However, as their only means of protecting is with a TPO, and you can't TPO something which is clearly a hedge, I'd say crack on... ... If it is clearly a hedge, and not a row of trees...
  15. Hi, I can help out with this. Feel free to give me a call or pass on my number 07702 707468 Kevin
  16. In my experience eucalyptus (in this country at least) respond to harsh pruning with lots of growth, much like willow or lime. I've dealt with the cyclical cutting aftermath of previously topped eucs many times, not once known it to kill them, but they do rot quickly. I've never seen one properly pollarded before, but I imagine they'd take well to it.
  17. Is it wrong that made me laugh?!
  18. I'd suggest, particularly if you are a member, that you contact the AA, I imagine this will have come up before...
  19. I like my trees like I like my women, curvy....
  20. All found recently David? The laeti looks half decent considering time of year. Are you aware of Boddy's discovery that the laeti on yews is not actually sulphureus?
  21. No can do eggs, sorry - I'm washing my hair...
  22. As a kid, no sign would have stopped me climbing that!
  23. Carb, or should I say throttle body assembly? Dunno... ... Anyway, very nice mechanic I'd not been to before (I only moved to this area a year ago) was booked up for a week or two, but spent half hour explaining possible causes. I went away and checked and cleaned a few bits and it turned out to be a stuck idle control valve. It only cost me a new can of carb cleaner and an hour of quality time with my 4.5yo son - time and money well spent, and a drink owed to Mr Mechanic I reckon...
  24. That's how I got rid of the 'service' dash light!
