  1. Any suggestions as to which gano, and why?
  2. Pretty much what I thought Treecreeper, I'd have said if you have made recommendations to re-survey a zone or tree it is down to the client to follow the recommendation. If you are called upon to go back and carry out said monitoring to an existing clients tree/trees it would certainly be professional to, if you don't have one, ask to see the previous survey. Certainly, if surveying for a new client I would ask whether any previous surveys had been carried out, and if I could see them. If they have called you in to survey based on previously specified monitoring recommendations, I would even more keen to see the previous report. However, I think if anything went wrong and you ended up in court, any onus for you to have seen previous reports would lie with the tree owner/manager.
  3. Hi all, I am just wondering a) if there is a requirement to keep copies of reports, and if so for how long. b) if there is no requirement do you keep a copy, just in case? c) how you store copies, digital or paper? Many thanks to any answers
  4. Could be Fomiposis pinicola, doesn't look right to be Phaeolus schwienitzii (spelling?). I'm sure DaviHamaFung will have a better answer!
  5. Might be of interest http://www.benzobuddies.org http://www.benzo.org.uk/violence.htm
  6. I don't mean to prod, but are you still taking benzos? I know from personal experience those kinds of angry outbursts, wanting to withdraw and stay in etc are a typical side effect the docs choose to ignore! You really would be better without them...
  7. Pear, plum maybe?
  8. One for the VTA thread perhaps?
  9. I thought it was a Cupressus, don't know arizonica though? Client says it was a leylandii planted about 35 years ago, however its never been trimmed and is only about 25 feet tall. So I had doubts about it being leylandii, I now have doubts about that, and reckon it is leylandii, but a fair bit younger than he thinks!? Thoughts?...
  10. Go on then rob, easy one...
  11. It does help, I should really read through the big book again sometime, its been a while! I suppose one could ask 'at what point does a tree start dying'? Is it once maturity has been reached and the tree starts growing down, effectively reducing its dynamic living mass, on a very slow downward spiral to death? Or, for the purposes of a tpo, is it more imminent death which is needed to be classed as dying? And what if the 'dying' is due for instance to soil compaction or poisoning, and there is a reasonable chance of fixing the problem and the tree recovering?
  12. ...can a tree be subject to a tpo by its wildlife/cultural value? If it were, then dead wood may well add hugely to its wildlife value. If this were the case, would ddd still apply to work exemptions? Also if a tree, say an old pollard, consists of much dead wood but is still perfectly safe, and the dead parts contribute hugely to the character of the tree, would ddd exemptions apply? Could a condition of the tpo protect the dead sections as well? Lastly, can a completely dead but safe tree with amenity (and ecological) value be subject of a tpo? Just wondering...
  13. If you enjoyed that you should read mother tongue, bill bryson
  14. Hmm, something else entirely methinks. Heart wood or ripewood wood be far more uniform and following the growth rings, as they age... Drop them an email maybe?
  15. Wow, lengthy doc, had a look at the contents and some interesting stuff in there. I'll battle through it all when I have some spare time, anything you (or anyone else) feels is particularly interesting, or worth reading first?
  16. Sounds like a good day what age range, and how did they like it?
  17. Missing that, especially on a beech in school grounds is poor. Pti level should have noticed that, surely! Ps. Was the australe confirmed?
