  1. Want to get to Whistmans soon. Are you amble to camp on Dartmoor? Clearly not in the wood, but close. I would have to get the train down I think, would love to go to Whiddon as well, but we shall see. Sodding southeners having all these nice old woods
  2. Afternoon all Just thought I would post a reminder/warning as we come into the main season for female deer "dropping" young. I am sure many of you are aware of this and the following may not apply, I apologise. Every year thousands of young deer are killed by dogs. Often it is before the animal is born, a pregnancy may terminate if a mother is chased and placed under large amounts of stress, but very often it is within the first few weeks of being born. When a young deer is born its mother leaves it for long periods of time in cover, while she goes to find food. She returns to suckle the fawn/calf anywhere between 2-4 times a day. The young deer, if frightened will freeze. The young deer do not run away this means that if a dog is walking in the area and smells the deer it will go and investigate, if it finds the deer they often kill it. I have come across many dead deer where a dog is too blame over the last few years. You can prevent this by keeping your dog on a lead from late april - june Next time your walking your dog, even in city parks, please think and keep it on a lead. All the best Sam

  6. Thats the way to do it. I raced Toppers for about 2 years before getting into bigger boats - ents, GP14s, RS2000s etc. They are great for youngsters

You want this Footwear Defender - R.M. Williams Belts & Leathercare - R.M. Williams - Denewear and that Leather Conditioning Cream - R.M. Williams Belts & Leathercare - R.M. Williams - Denewear Once every week/two weeks (or when you remember in my case ) Williams is the best by far, Nikwax etc. doesn't come close once you've used it, its worth the extra cash chief
  8. Their wellies are bob on. Had mine nearly 1 and a bit years, considering Chamoos lasted less than 11 months, thats Hovis going that is the way I wear boots. Shouldn't go far wrong with those chief
  9. I'd say chuck yan in as well... but I don't know if they have ginsters
  10. Same breed. Always were called a GS until the wars, then because anything German was very unpopular, they changed it to Alsatian. They changed it back mid '50s or '60s I think. Much like the Royal family really, though they haven't changed it back yet.
  11. this thread is decaying with every post...
  12. Why don't you just contract the felling and extraction out? Will be much easier
  13. Too true. Chainsaw gloves are bullocks mate
  14. He's from Somerset... of course he has been drinking something!
  15. Anyone on here into boats of any sort? I've always had a connection to water, swimming, canoeing or sailing, whatevers going At the moment I don't sail much, but spend a fair amount of time open canoeing, and do a little bit of kayaking. I'm in the (slow:001_rolleyes:) process of making a canoe to compliment the "plastic" boats I've got at the moment. I made a coracle a couple of years ago for the banter, thats pretty hard - but great fun, especially for kids. Anyone else into boats? Sam
  16. HOLDER A60 TRACTOR 4x4 FORESTRY COMPACT on eBay (end time 12-Apr-11 20:48:17 BST) Looks decent
  17. It is, up to 25lb, but not as good as the moose hunting:thumbup1:
  18. I try for any job, whenever I don't think I'm wasting whoever's time. I will always get in touch rather than wait, the onus should not be on the bloke who is giving you the cash, but some people don't want you to get in touch, say they will contact you and don't, suppose thats just the trade. Sam
  19. Cheers, posted it last monday... so probably just RM doing their normal service
  20. It's brilliant! I whistle it for about a week after every time I see the film, and occasionally random people join in too
  21. Looks a bit dangermouse, no stop button or bar. But a good idea. I think you have to be careful not to get leaves etc. in with the "logs", I wouldn't want to be buying a bad thats half leaves/twigs and half tiny rounds. Might be good for people called Oscar who have those terra-cotta furness things on their decking though
  22. The fact that channel 999 only has ten minute free previews every 3 hours, and you don't even see anything!
