  1. Gonna keep it a while but intend to get something bigger and self driven in the future. A multitip conversion would take about 8 sets of teeth to break even which would take 2-3 years for me so doesn't make sense right now with more important things to spend on
  2. None that I've found but haven't looked too hard, the green teeth ones look like they might but haven't got the measurements to check. I recently enquired with multitip about converting as takes ages to change the teeth but comes in at about £400 plus vat so not a goer!

  4. Yup grinds really well when they are new/sharp noticeable difference when they are dull though. Invest in a battery angle grider and diamond disc to keep them in reasonable condition
  5. I bought the original one as when phoned them asked about them the only difference was the type of teeth and the folding handle, didn't want the folding handle as seemed a weak point for the future

    Wasps

I'd say there's a lack of them this year, come across plently of bee nest though
  7. Perhaps, I'm not sure I want the work tbh without seeing what I'm doing first was thinking more along the lines of giving people a figure they can work from so not to expect to pay silly low prices and not waste mine of their time, I'll alter it to "from £250" or think of something else to offer
  8. Just been redesigning my website and put an offer on there of £250 for operator and chipper for the day with one load taken, not overly fussed if do this kind of job but that's gotta be the minimum?
  9. Nope the 550 is listed at 4.9 kg the 261 at 5.2kg and the 560 at 5.7 kg
  10. It's a problem I agree and I speak from experience having two break ins at my home for my gear (now all moved), but as the idea of a website is to get the phone ringing you can't really get around your address getting out there. The Google local listings are pretty essential to be listed on as come top results when search for a trade and location and you have to have a valid address to be listed as they send you a postcard with a code to be listed. Also even if you don't get listed or put an address out there, there are always eyes looking out for what you've got, we get daily transits driving past at a slow speed looking for 'scrap' and other undesirables can identify a tree truck pretty easily
  11. 300 grams in it, less than a tin of beans!
  12. Just don't put up an address where your stuff is. Having an address helps with google searches in your location, looks more professional and it'll be on yell.com and the other listing sites anyway
  13. When they tried me they went in through the garage roof, took sensors off the walls to try stop the alarms but that didn't work and while they doing that the silent one was phoning the mobile. Daren't have stuff at home anymore as once they've got the scent of saws they'll keep trying
  14. agreed, I had a 261 which was stolen so bought a 550xp to see what the fuss was about, having lived with it for 6 months I would prefer the 261 as never had a problem with it, cut really well (better than the 260) and it started when I pulled the cord no matter the temperature!!!
  15. Sorry to hear this, been hit twice recently so know the kick in the teeth feeling. When you get new saws add more security layers and a silent alarm that phones you, saved my stuff the second time
  16. Nope! Inclusive http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=151736810794&globalID=EBAY-GB As hard as I try I can't see the point, may as well get a job is asda, same money, no stress
  17. But if you haven't got the work to pay for it and need to mess around on £130 a day before tax and fuel and blades and everything else, leaving you maybe £50 in your pocket all said and done, then why on earth would you spend best part of 20k on a chipper
  18. Was just looking on eBay at chippers to see what's about and spotted someone with a timberwolf 230 offer on a day operator and machine for £130 and a few others at similar prices, are these guys for real?? How can you afford to eat at those prices!?
  19. If they wanted a real quote i'd head over but as we all know pricing from a vague description never works! I've priced, and got similar jobs that I've know quite a few others were also pricing but never this many competitors. I've got enough to be getting on with to be chasing quote whore £100 jobs! Although not enough to be buzzing around in a Bentley!
  20. I suppose the risk is customer who don't want decent workers may not be decent customers?
  21. They don't even want a site visit, it's definitely the absolute cheapest gets it kind of job.. "Hi there, I am looking for someone to clear a shrub, cut a tree down to the ground and dispose of the parts responsibly. The tree - a pine free with a 10-inch girth approximately and about 15-feet high - is located near to a house, in an ungated front garden so easily accessed. Thanks for letting me know how much you would charge for the job, all inclusive. "
  22. 21!!! It's got to be a record? Normally I'd agree with you but given the 'quality' of one or two of the people listed you'd have to quote about £60 to get it. I'd prefer customers who want a decent company not the absolute cheapest!
  23. Just had an email through asking for a quote for what sounds like a tiny job - 15 foot pine tree to fell, can see who else she sent it to as cc instead of bcc, guess how many people it went to!!?
