  1. not just cyclists, I was on traffic duty about 20 years ago now, had stopped all the cars as a lump was about to be dropped in the road. Then some £$%£^ in a car decided to jump the queue, swerve around me and speed down at ridiculous speeds, missed getting hit by about the same amount as that cyclist
  2. to me looks like the better way would be to use the branches as a crash mat so you don't damage the road or footpath and section it down, takes a bit longer but noones getting hurt
  3. exactly, no-one who had any say in how that job was done has and business working with trees if they think its ever appropriate to fell a tree next to a road with zero traffic management
  4. Ordered mine last weds, hopefully here by end of the week as some have arrived now. Wanna build one to see how it goes together so I can strip down and rebuild a genuine one I've got shelved with some confidence
  5. Join the Facebook huztl builders page, lots of info on there ? I've got the new 200t kit on route
  6. havent read all of this but for a first saw i'd go with a husky 135, only £170 delivered. 40cc very capable not not crazy powerful so you shouldnt get yourself in trouble with it
  7. Give redwood a call, they have quite a few used tracked machines in. They do them up like new before sale
  8. I went with the först st6p. Same engine, quicker than my last chipper! Don't really get the issue with petrol Vs red diesel on 6 inch machines. Most do around an hour a day on average realistically, that's what, £2 difference? Vs the £3k saving when buying the chipper!
  9. Same as that. Got a new harness and helmet from frjones (£55 rude not to!) found the panther bars in the sorbus tent but no echo 2511 ones in stock The new forst st8p looked a good machine I thought. Wasnt impressed with the electric chipper, 10 hr charge time for it. Its the future but technology isnt there yet
  10. the chipper did well, the echo has more metal in it than the average timberwolf
  11. spend a bit more and get a husky 135
  12. does anyone else get suspicious when they see a glowing review and a link to the supplier from a guy whos not posted anything else!
  13. mate of mine tried the wear sharps on one of those 13hp fsi grinders, rubbish, cracked in no time. I stic with qrms ones myself, £4 a tooth, happy days
  14. i'm sure ive heard theres not going to be any available til next year now?
  15. no problem, but wont be with the machine until Thursday now
  16. mines a 1997 rg20 and definitely does have a handbrake. Interesting to hear about the brake seizing on. D you not think the oil could have degraded over the years so too watery when hot?

Assume your mate is £2133 lighter and not you??
  19. Mine is doing the same thing, except its fine in the morning when its cold, drives up the back of a transit on ramps no problem, when its been working has trouble getting over a mound of chips. Drive belt is tight so guessing its the drive itself so oil and filter change maybe? anyone got a clue about what oil or where the filter is?
  20. no sounds luckily! only realised because noticed a spark viewed through the rollers when was feeding it
  21. I got mine out easy enough with a flat screwdriver under it and bit of jiggling. Make sure the surface behind it is clean when you put a new one in, didn't realize mine had accumulated black crud and new one sat slightly forward so the blades were just dinging it
  22. Yup, it slides out to the left
  23. Identical, same as most of the machine! ?
